Thomson Elite Seatpost
If there's a seatpost by which all other seatposts are measured... The Thomson Elite is the gold standard! We recommend these without hesitation due to their superb strength, light weight, and no-slip design. Engineered by Thomson, a leader in the aerospace industry, this seatpost features strength far beyond that of OE seatposts. Machined in the USA from tubes of extruded aluminum and anodized silver or black, the Thomson Elite is at once light, strong and beautiful.

CONS: Does not come in colors
I'm sure I've got mine over torqued, but I've never broken a seat post bolt. Will have to get my bike shop to torque the bolts to spec. These don't slip, they don't creak, the saddle never comes loose, and you don't have to worry about it, even if you're Clyde like me. Ain't that worth it? Just get it, put it in, ride.

PROS: Easy to Use, Durable, Lightweight
BEST USES: Road Bikes, Long Rides, Commuting, Mountain Bikes
Like a CK headset, they end up getting passed down from bike to bike because they last virtually forever. They're light, well machined, and have a feel of quality that I have not seen with any less expensive seatposts. To top it off, Thomson customer service is very approachable and works with the customer should any issues arise years down the road.
PROS: Appearance, Weight, Function, durability
BEST USES: Road, Mountain
This thing really lives up to its reputation. It may not have the best ride like a carbon post would, but I can't see how anybody would be able to break it. And... if they manage to, Thompson's warranty will take care of it.
Bottom line: buy it and forget about it.
