Comments about Time X-Roc S Mountain Pedals:

I've replaced my Crank Brothers Mallet 2 pedals with the Time's for racing BMX. After a few rides I must say I sort of miss the planted feel my feet used to have on the Mallets (with adjustable allens for extra grip).

I've used my new pedals about three times so far, one practice and two races. I won both races so I can't complain about how quickly its taken me to adjust to the newness. I'm sure it's going to take a while to break in these bad boys as the clips even at their loosest adjustment are still snappier than my old nicely-worn in pedals.

I did have to tighten the left pedal one click firmer to even out the feel of both pedals. But I guess that's what adjustments are for.

In addition to my feet feeling like they move around a lot on these pedals (similar to how the Shimano DX clipless pedals felt back when I used to run them last year), the composite cages on the Times seem like they won't take much of a beating. I tend to be pretty easy on my pedals racing BMX so I don't think it is going to be an issue for me. If you are really hard on your bike or pedals it's something to consider. None the less, I wish the cages were taller or offered some sort of additional adjustment to grab the bottom of your shoe more.

I replaced my CB pedals to to gain added spindle strength which the Time's seem to offer. The spindle is beefy. I also like that they provide both an allen as well as traditional pedal wrench option for installing/removing them from my DXR's.

So far so good.

Comments about Time X-Roc S Mountain Pedals:

I have ridden Time ATAC pedals for years, but recently moved to the North Shore in Vancouver. The terrain here is a little more extreme, to put it mildly - lots of people ride flat pedals so they can bail quickly or get on the pedals fast. I wasn't ready to give up clipless, especially for some of the more XC trails, but needed something with a platform because there's sometimes not time to get clipped in at the top of a drop. These pedals are perfect for that - engagement is actually easier and more secure than my old Time ATAC XS pedals, and if you don't get clipped in, your foot still stays on the pedal.

The platform is big enough to support your shoe, but not so big that it gets in the way or hits lots of rocks. I was a little worried about durability, since the platform is plastic, but they've taken the abuse with no problem. Definitely worth the price - I just go ride and never have to think about my pedals, which is how it should be.
