Kenda Honey Badger Pro 27.5" Tire

The Honey Badger just ‘don’t care.’ The Kenda Honey Badger Pro tire is designed to be aggressive enough to rip through loamy conditions, roll smoothly over hard pack and rock, dig through loose- over- hard terrain, and just be an all around great mountain bike tire. The Honey Badger is perfect for a variety of conditions. Upgrade the part of your bike that actually touches the trail, your tires! This version of the Honey Badger Pro features Kenda's SCT technology. SCT is the modification of existing Kenda tire technologies making them now compatible with fluid based tubeless conversion systems. Kenda's DTC technology allows you to maintain high speeds without sacrificing traction. DTC is the ultimate tread compound. Kenda's L3R Pro compound (60 shore A durometer) in the center and the cornering knobs have STICK-E compound (50 shore A durometer). The benefits are great center tread life and great cornering control and grip.

Doesn't Care - Tread Life Short
Love the Name, yes because of the Video. Ride a 27.5 rig Nevegal 2.35 up front. This comment is all about my back tire. Got this tire with way to much confidence. I love the small block eight hooks up well in all types of conditions (mud is very questionable). Tried Slant 6 was good but life was very short. Honey badger was loose around corners, did not hold up at all to braking, small block 8 shines there. After a month of riding I have almost worn down center knobs. I am not a huckster or a XC racer. I ride because it is fun to spend my money on something that does not last is a waste to me. Going back to a Small Block 8.

Good ride
Nice tire that doesn't care what your riding on. It was a super easy install tubeless. Corners fairly well. If you are burning through tires and are looking to buy several sets this would be at the top of my list. they will not chunk out in no time. They aren't down hill tires so don't expect crazy grip but they do offer little rolling resistance. In the end they are good cheap tires.

fast, neutral handling, large volume
Have run this tire front and back on both a hardtail and 5.5" full suspension. May be the perfect tire for Rocky, uneven terrain where the low profile, widely spaced knobs can grab on. The rounded profile provides neutral steering in off camber situations. Remarkable durability and tread-life. By the time the tread was done, the tire was coming apart anyway but that was after probably 800 miles. When the trail is loose and you are pushing hard, this isn't the tire you want up front. But, it's perfect in back with the Nevegal X doing the steering.

Very good at a few things
Have had two sets of these and one set of the 'Sport' (wire bead). They have been durable (maybe 800 miles of single track per/set) and fast rolling. They were brilliant on a couple trips to Moab where their low-profile knobs and rounded profile worked great on rock. Big slabs of rock. Rock steps. Rock, rock and more rock. Where they fall short is pushing hard into a loose corner. You're going to eat dirt. So now I run them on back with something meatier up front. Current combo is Nev-X front and HB back. Works well.

Sidewall damage
Excellent tread pattern thats fast and grippy, a nice and wide tire. However, the low volume casing and poor side wall strength lead to sidewall damage. After totalling two new tires at the bead i had to write these off as an option.

Great so far... but they did care about going tubeless
I was riding with Ardents that did not have the special EXO treatment so the sidewalls kept tearing up. I was running tubes on a set of WTB SX23s on my Kona Process and when I looked around for some Kenda Nevegals (I used to have on my old bike) I could not find any in the 650b size. The Honey Badgers seemed to have an even better tread design for the rocky gnarly stuff here in Central MA, so I went for them. Out of the box they are just as durable as the Nevegals but they have a smaller block design, as expected. I used gorilla tape to seal up the WTB rims and Stans notubes for the sealant. I used the stems from two old tubes as my new tubeless stems and got ready to seat the Badgers into place. They took some work.... like 45 minutes to seat. I used lots of soap in a spray bottle and a kayak tie down strap to pull the tire to the rim evenly which really worked great. The second tire took 5 minutes, the first took 40. I have had them mounted for about 10 days but only got out for one ride... and my frame snapped! But the tires are still rocking with no leaks and the few miles I did with them I loved them. I highly recommend them.
