This handy tool fits securely into the slots on the reverse side of a chainring bolt so it doesnt spin while you loosen the bolt. Designed specifically for the job, the revised CNW-2 (replaces CNW-1) makes removing chainring bolts much easier.

This tool works. But not in every situation. There are times when the female "bolt" installs more than flush with the male "nut." This makes seating the tool very tricky, especially if the chainring bolts are at all frozen in place. As with a previous reviewer, I too have lost some knuckle skin extracting stubborn bolts with this tool.

I wish there were a more fool-proof solution, but until then, grease your chainring bolts and buy this tool!

I've had this for a couple years now and have used it on my mountain, fixed gear and cyclocross bikes without any issues. No bending, the finish remains intact and it gives more leverage than a screwdriver ever did for me. Thanks again, Park Tool!

Comments about Park Tool CNW-2 Chainring Nut Wrench:

A screwdriver would work fine. If you're removing ten chain ring nuts a year you don't need this. If you disassemble your chain rings after every ride it's worth its price. Super simple and effective. The tab that fits into the hole in the chain ring bolt really helps keep it centered. I like that it's light enough not to bother me in my apron but it isn't confidence inspiring on tough bolts. That said, I haven't bent it yet either.

Comments about Park Tool CNW-2 Chainring Nut Wrench:

Well worth the price if you need to change out chain rings. My cross bike get 36/46 up front during the race season, and then gets 50/34 as my gravel/rough road/winter bike the rest of the year. I have mangled soft bolts with a screw driver. This tool is less than a new set of bolts, and gets the job done.

Doesn't have a tight fit which means it 'can' be awkward at times holding the tool securely into the nut with one hand while using an allen wrench on the other side of the chainring. In the end though, it works and is easier than trying to use a screwdriver. Also comes in handy when replacing the derailleur hanger.

This is the second chainring bolt tool that I've bought. The first was a one-sided Park. This one is double sided. It's small and easy to misplace. I attached a 2" ring to it so It'll stand out it the toolbox. End your frustration and buy the right tool for the job.

I bought this but it can be a take it or leave it item. I added it to my on the road kit. I never needed it to remove chainring bolts. Though I have used it for the sake of trying it out. May come in handy for siezed bolts. Good quality and tough. Park quality of course.
