Ingenious! RideCase attaches directly to the top of your fork by replacing the headset top cap. This frees up space on your handlebars for other accessories, like a headlight, while keeping your iPhone right where you want it for using the GPS, maps, music, etc.
Sleek carbon fiber and plastic construction
Fully angle adjustable, can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation
Integrated QuickClick mounting system lets user mount or remove the RideCase in seconds
The Good: Well made, alum bracket, works with any bar/stem combo, weather resist cover, many iphone free apps (best is runtastic roadbike, map my ride not as good) make this very nice option to separate computer
The Bad: Stem cap option doesnt work with all stem cap configs and only works with star nut style, weather cover doesnt allow for good operation of touchscreen
PROS: Easy to Use, Well Made Alum Bracket, Lightweight, Works With Any Barstem, Positive Snap Onoff, Durable
This holder is a great holder for your Iphone. There are many mixed reviews of this holder on other sites but let me tell you what I think about this holder. Installing the top cap mount is not difficult. If your not mechanically sound it shouldn't be difficult as long as you only loosen then top cap. Yes it only mounts with a star nut so carbon tube forks will not work. The case on the phone itself is pretty solid. It clicks on the corners. I don't bother taking it on or off just because the plastic will wear out and not hold the phone. It hasn't happened but that's the nature of plastic. The case doesn't look bad either on the phone. Although it does not protect the screen. Installing the phone on the bike is easy with a "click" sound to verify engagement. The holder does rattle where it rotates, not bad but does. If it didn't rotate it wouldn't be a problem. The balloon cover that is recommended I tried using. It worked but if using strava, mapmyride, etc (gps) for a long period your phone will overheat and shut off. Short rides are ok but longer than an hour or so in direct sun I would not try. I hardly ever ride where its wet so it's ok for me. I initially bought to use with the ant+ adapter which works great. Just the gps is a battery killer so I went to a garmin instead. Bottom line for me is you have a "solid phone mount". If your planning on using this for long rides with extended use of gps this is not for you. Buy a gps. I never worry about it falling out and it never leaves my sight so I'm not worried about it falling out of my pocket. I even use the media player while riding and its great. Reading a text or taking a call COULD be done. I won't be taking this off my bike any time soon!
