Inexpensive but only so-so performance

By AdamB

from N.W. Arkansas

About Me Avid Cyclist

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Poor Strap Length
  • Poor Strap Placement

Best Uses

  • Mountain Biking

Comments about Troy Lee Designs Knee Guard:

The biggest problem with these shin/knee guards is that they lack a strap above the knee. That allows the knee pad to flap around instead of staying tight to your knee. The lowest strap is very long and is barely tight enough at it's tightest position. These guards do not have any protection for the back of your legs if that is something you need. In their defense, I knew about all of these shortcomings before I bought them but I was sucked in by the low price. I have recently cut off the knee pad part of these guards and combined the shin guard with a pair of Fox knee pads. I would recommend looking at a different product.

Cheap auxiliar materials

By Rob Marini

from Sao Jose dos Campos, SP - Brazil

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Protected My Shins

Cons

  • Didn't Protect My Knees
  • Poor Construction
  • Strap Lock Broke Easily

Best Uses

  • Mountain Biking

Comments about Troy Lee Designs Knee Guard:

Plastic strap locks broke one by one.... that's not good.

There is no strap to lock the upper part of the guard, sometimes it exposes your shin. It happened to me twice. Not good memories!

great for XC platform riders

By Bloody Shins

from Milwaukee, WI

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Light Weight

Cons

  • Only 2 straps

Best Uses

  • Rays MTB
  • XC

Comments about Troy Lee Designs Knee Guard:

In a big fall, these will probably slide around and not protect your knee very well (there is no strap above the knee). However, great for XC rides (I've slipped a pedal and caught a "shinner" one too many times).

Not the best knee...

By Steve

from Mogadore, Oh United States

Comments about Troy Lee Designs Knee Guard:

Not the best knee pads on the market, but for the price you cant beat em. If you're looking for a set you can shred up on the weekends these are them, but if you're looking for top line all around, these aren't your boys
