I converted my 4 bikes (3mtn and one cx) to Stan's this summer and after 6 months of using it, I have mixed feelings. One the one hand, it does seal small pinhole leaks from thorns well when the sealant is fresh. On the other hand, it's one giant pain in the rear to deal with on the whole. There's a definite learning curve with this stuff that I'm getting pretty sick of. Some tires work well with it, others don't. It's always a gamble as to what will seal up and what won't. Mounting tires can be easy or a real pain and forget doing a quick tire swap because nothing's easy whe it comes to S(a)tan's. I've had minor sidewall abrasions that wouldn't faze a tubed tire not seal up and ended up putting a tube in on the trail which is a slimy mess. I've had the rediculously expensive rim strips fail at the valve several times while trying to air them up on the trail...apparently you're not supposed to use a micor pump with these so you better carry co2. In the dry climate that I live in (Colorado) the sealant dries out in about a month and needs to be refilled so you're always buying sealant. Yes, you will avoid pinch flats and can run lower pressures ( a little) but go too low and the tires can 'burp' which is when the bead unseats and lets all the air out. I've had this stuff fail on me in races which is really frustrating. I'm kind of torn when it comes to Stan's...I don't really know that it's better than tubes. If you live in an area with lots of thorns (like I do) then it may be worth it. You can run lower pressures for increased traction and a smoother ride (love it on the cx bike) but it's really high maintenance and when it fails on the trail, you're putting a tube in anyway. I keep swearing that I'm going back to tubes but I haven't because I think that the advantages barely outweigh the disadvantages. This is a good idea but it's not the be-all, end-all of anything. One thing that I'd like to try and what may end up being the best compromise is to run tubes with Stan's sealant inside.

Comments about Stan's No Tubes Stan's NoTubes Tubeless System:

I ordered the All Mountain 29er kit on the suggestion of Stan's customer service (for a 29" Bontrager wheel). The rim strip was possibly too wide for my rim (25mm outside, 19mm inside) but ended up working out. I had to lightly trim the strip next to the valve stem as it would not fit the rim properly and I could not get the bead to seat. After slightly trimming the strip I was able to seat the bead successfully. The tubeless setup is great, just took a bit to get working.

Comments about Stan's No Tubes Stan's NoTubes Tubeless System:

Great kit. Tape went on easy adhesive is strong and sealed well. The provided rimstrip with valve attached make install and building up rim super easy for proper bead seat. Only reason I gave 4 stars over 5 is they do not provide the sealant injector with kit. With out it after you seat the bead you have to carefully pull part of one side of your tire off the rim to add sealant and put tire back on. Then you have to re seat that side. With the injector it's much easier to set up once you remove your valve core and inject sealant. So you only have to seat your tires once. Beside that everything worked great.

Comments about Stan's No Tubes Stan's NoTubes Tubeless System:

Great product just a little unclear in the description. If you have tubeless rims you cannot use the included rim strip. After 2 hours of sweating and swearing I discovered this. I ended up cutting the valve out of the strip and... VIOLA!!!!!... The tires popped into the bead with a satisfying snap and held perfect. They should sell a kit for tubeless rims that has just the valve stems and not the strip. A little clarification is all that's needed. Otherwise a great product.

The directions were clear and simple to follow. The liner was perfect size and with just a little pressure filled all the spaces. Was able to get a perfect seal even without sealant. The sealant went in and is working fine. My kind of kit simple and it works

Comments about Stan's No Tubes Stan's NoTubes Tubeless System:

After 20+ years of tubed MTB tires, I'll never go back!

Used this with Mavic 317 rims and Panaracer Fire XC Pro tires - needed a shot of CO2 to get them to mount. Took longer than the directions said to seal, but if you repeat the bounce/lay on the side part - they will eventually seal and hold. I ride in North Texas - lots of Mesquite thorns and prickly pear cactus - no flats since installing - on my 2nd to last tubed ride I had 2 thorns in the rear tire...

Have since switched to Maxxis Ikon TR tires on same rims and loving it.

        Get this! You NEED it!

I have used Stan's inn my tires for the past few years and I love it. I was tired of replacing tubes and getting flats while riding so I made the switch and it quickly paid for itself in tubes. The kit can be tricky to install your first time but you get use to it and it's not sweat after a while (I have converted quite a few tires for friends).
