For a clincher...
A lot of the serious racers use tubless, or tubular but I still use clinchers. This is a great mudding tire for the worst conditions imaginable. I was climbing slippry inclines that everyone else was getting off and running. If conditions are bad enough, reverse the rotation direction of the front tire so the arrow of the tread is pointing back toward yourself and the tire will catch the ground better on slippery stuff and lock you into place.

the tire says min 40psi but I ran them at 35 front and back no problem. i weight 190.

Vittoria XM
I've used the XM tires in close to a dozen races now as I've had these installed on my "B" cx bike and I've had frequent mechanicals on my "A" bike. These do what they're intended to do, grip in the slop. Due to the tread design they tend to slide through corners often but it is very controllable and progressive. These aren't good in the dry, but they're not really intended for it. I think they actually grip better in soft conditions than in dry conditions since the "paddle" treads can dig in and get some bite. They aren't fast rollers but again, not really their intent.

These are not good all-condition tires but they treated me well in muddy and wet races this season. Hardpack, short grass on hard pack, and pavement are these tires enemy. The softer the terrain the better. I have not run these through really heavy mud pits like "belgium mud" but they have been good in the wet clay and wet sand that we see a lot of in Michigan.

PROS: Good In Slop, Lightweight, Easy To Install

CONS: Limited Utilization

BEST USES: Racing, Mud, Cyclocros
