WTB VelociRaptor Front Folding 26" Tire

Back in the day when flannel shirts ruled the world and mountain bike tires were predominantly gum walled, WTB created a revolutionary all-black tire that offered a steering specific front, and a traction loaded rear. That very same tire is the one you now see before you, known as the VelociRaptor! Since its birth in 1994, the VelociRaptor has been a cross country hit. The folding bead features 60 tpi casings, making it lighter than the Comp version, while providing the benefits of a race level tire without the sticker shock. The VelociRaptor is one of the most classic combos of all time with nearly 20 years of cross country experience. It’s safe to say that grunge music wasn’t the only movement of the early nineties!

Comments about WTB Velociraptor Front Folding 26" Tire:

These are a pretty good tire. They grip really well, decent price. Grip about as well as the High Rollers I had on before and they're a bit lighter and cheaper so that's a plus. They're also called Velociraptors and if you don't think that's cool, then we're done here. Can't speak to their durability as of yet but they have saved my bacon in some gravel, although that may have been a combination of luck and skill. Probably 70% luck, 30% skill. Maybe 80/20. Alright fine, 90/10.

Look, the question here is not whether or not I can corner through gravel, so get off my back. You asked me to do this review, I'm not even being paid for this. And like the Joker, I submit that if a man is good at something, he should never do it for free. But I digress.

The question is whether or not these are good tires. And the answer to that question is yes. Yes, they are.

Comments about WTB Velociraptor Front Folding 26" Tire:

Paired with a Velociraptor Race rear tire. This is a great combo for loose dirt/shale or wet and sloppy. I take an extra set of wheels to races with these mounted up, in case things get wet.
This tire also has better rolling resistance than I expected, which was a big plus.
