Back in the day when flannel shirts ruled the world and mountain bike tires were predominantly gum walled, WTB created a ground-breaking all black tire that offered a steering specific front, and a traction loaded rear. That very same tire is the one you now see before you, known as the VelociRaptor! Since its birth in 1994, the VelociRaptor has been a cross country hit. The folding bead features 60 tpi casings, making it lighter than the Comp version, while providing the benefits of a race level tire without the sticker shock. The VelociRaptor is one of the most legendary combos of all time with nearly 20 years of cross country experience. It’s safe to say that grunge music wasn’t the only movement of the early nineties!

Comments about WTB Velociraptor Rear Folding 26" Tire:
These have been around forever and I have seen many come and go from my garage. It seems like only a few short years ago this same tire was around $20. Why the drastic rise in cost? The price takes a star away in this review. Other than that...
This is a great tire if you don't pay too much for it. They last quite awhile and climb in the mud like nothing else. Seriously, churning through a muddy climb with these is almost easy. The handeling is decent in most other conditions, though they are noisy on pavement. Also, if you hang the tail way out there and the get it sliding it can get wild fast with the big gaps between the lugs providing little to slow its slide. You gotta be pushing it a bit to get to that point though.
Overall: If you ride in the mud and are on a budget that these fit into you will love them. They will work all four seasons if you want them to and at least one person in your group will give props to them. They're classics.
