do research before thinkin about this. had local bike shop build this hub into 26 inch alex adventurer rim. am using alfine 8 speed trigger shifter. mounted on specialized mtb turned into commuter. 34 ring with 19 sprocket gives top speed 17mph, geared low for hills and i like to spin. its great way shifts. chain tensioner keeps drive line simple. has just as good efficiency as cheap derailleur system. took mine apart and did mobil 1 atf bath then reassembled with finnishline ceramic grease on bearings. and WOW! its now uber smooth. its not cheap project but worth it for all weather simplicity kind of ride and weird factor others boggle over
