No longer will you need to sacrifice speed for versatility; the ASR 5 offers the tight, fast handling of an XC race bike with the plushness and versatility of an all mountain rig. At the heart of the bike is an Active Suspension (AS) frame design, soaking up the rough stuff and transferring power from the pedals to the rear wheel without a loss of energy. The frame is constructed of high modulus, hand laid-up carbon fiber, giving it a stunning appearance while adding strength and stiffness at a very low weight. Yeti has chosen the Fox Float 32 140mm CTD fork for this build. This fork is air sprung and has low friction 7000 series lightweight 32mm aluminum stanchions. The rear suspension is a Fox Float. The Fox 32 Float fork and Fox 32 Float rear suspension make for a smooth ride that can tackle all kinds of terrain. CTD stands for Climb, Trail, & Descend. These are all settings on FOX’s new shocks and forks. The Climb setting acts similar to a lock out. It stiffens the suspension for better climbing and power transfer. Trail is a happy medium between lock out and wide open. Descend opens the suspension up and allows use of more of the suspension. Yeti has selected a full Shimano XTR drivetrain group and hydraulic brakes. Using superior Shimano XTR cranks (24-32-42), front and rear derailleur, shifters and brakes, the ASR-5C Pro build is very high performance and very high quality.
