For 2014, the Yeti SB-66 Enduro features a custom butted aluminum front triangle combined with a high-modulus carbon fiber rear triangle, making it a whopping 300 grams lighter than the full alloy comp model. In addition to the SB-66’s new facelift, the visually stunning lines and sculpted tubeset of the SB-66 Enduro will certainly capture your attention like love-at-first-sight. Of course, the SB-66 wouldn't be the SB-66 without its mind, body and soul: Switch Technology. Switch Technology is a modified dual-link system that utilizes an eccentric mechanism that switches direction as the bike moves through travel to control pedaling forces and wheel path, resulting in both efficient climbing and descending. With Switch Technology gracing your machine, the suspension is quite active on downhills, yet completely efficient for trekking up large climbs.
The alloy/carbon frame is lightweight at only 6.8 pounds (claimed weight); while the full alloy chassis with an inset tapered head tube and a compact assembly, make the frame stiff and responsive. Pair the progressive geometry with Switch Technology; add in oversized pivot pins, and Tada! you get one aggressive bike that yearns to be ridden hard. The harder you ride, the better the SB-66 will perform.
Yeti Cycles knows that a frame forged by gods would be nothing without a reliable component set, which of course is why they went with SRAM to complete the drivetrain. SRAM lends its X-7 dependability to the shifters and front derailleur, while the smoothness and efficiency of X-9 is utilized for the rear derailleur. The Fox 34 Kashima coated 15 with 160mm of travel and Fox CTD Adjust K+ (8.5”x2.5”) rear shock, is sure to gobble up rocks, roots, ruts and bumps. Truvative rounds out a solid cockpit with a T20 series stem and seatpost, and a T30 handlebar.
The Switch Technology will have you jonesin for hills to climb, and what goes up must come down, and what comes down must eventually come to a halt, which is why the SB-66 comes with Avid Elixir 5 brakes and brake levers that provide maximum stopping power when desired. The SB-66 Enduro rolls on DT Swiss M1900 wheels, laced with Maxxis tires; a recipe for trail shredding. Get out from behind the wheel and into the saddle of the SB-66, and wage battle on that daunting ascent that’s been haunting you, head to the bike park for an adrenaline fix, or ride your way to the top step of the podium.
