Zoic Essential Liners

Zoic Essential Liner 2014

ZOIC is no stranger to the cycling apparel world. They've been in the game for 20 years, making premium apparel all throughout the various trends and turns in the industry. From this expertise Zoic developed their Removable Padded Liner System: under-short liners with an integrated chamois pad that are meant to be paired with outer shorts constructed specifically for cycling. RPL System liners are removable, interchangeable and sold separately, so you can also wear them under any shorts, knickers, or pants you already own. All ZOIC liners feature flat-lock stitching, flat finish seams and tagless labels to eliminate itching and chafing.

ZOIC IPL System Liners enhance your enjoyment of cycling. When you ride, the saddle is one of 3 touch-points (along with the pedals and handlebar) between you and your bike. Comfort in the saddle is critical to your ride, and it begins with what you wear. A cycling liner with ergonomic fit and well-positioned padding alleviates pressure and allows you to ride for hours or even days.

The Zoic Essential Liner features an anatomically contoured men's specific ZO-Tech chamois with ZO-Wick moisture management. The ZO-Tech chamois incorporates multi-level ergonomic foam for enhanced comfort and the liner body is constructed from six panels with no center front seam, reducing seam contact points and enhancing comfort. Spandex mesh fabric construction provides the stretch, breathability, and moisture wicking capabilities to endure any activity and logo'd gripper elastic on the inside of the leg openings keep the Essential Liner in place all ride long.

Super comfortable
I purchased these shorts to replace my worn out liners. I saw these on sale for dirt cheap and decided to give them a shot. So happy I did! These shorts fit very comfortably and true to size. The padding is great! There padding extends further out to the sides than my last liners did which really helps with long rides. I will definitely be buying more of these liners especially at the price point they are at.

PROS: Great Fit, Extra Padding, Inexpensive

CONS: None

BEST USES: Cross Country, Free Riding, Casual Trails, Downhill, Single Track

Great Value
I wanted a chamois that could go under any shorts or pants I choose, at a reasonable price, and these fit the bill. Sizing is true, but they are snug. They do not budge, even after hours of intense riding. The padding is in the right place, but is thin and just regular foam. It helps a LOT compared to nothing, but there are more generous options out there if you need it. They breathe well, don't bind, don't move, and are unobtrusive when worn off the bike.

Great value
This is my second pair of these. Ridden plenty mtb centuries, 10+ hour solo epic rides, 12hr races etc in these with little to no butt issues. Not as nice or snug as a $150 bib short, but they do a great job for the $. Once broken in don't have that diaper feel that some do.

Good But Not Great
I bought these as the Canari Gel Shorts I had were starting to cause friction burns. These shorts have a very nice size saddle pad, though the pad itself is not provide the most cushion. They run a little small. I'm 6ft 220lbs and bought the XL but may have needed the XXL, hard to say as I did not try the XXL. The seams are flat, so there's not any chaffing and the shorts hold nicely around the legs. These are good enough for short rides (10-20 miles), but I don't think I would be comfortable enough to go much further.

PROS: Durable, Comfortable, No Chaffing

CONS: Padding, Sizing

BEST USES: Short rides, Commuting

Good for trail farts
The liner is more of a mesh than a compression short material, which is fine because I'm sure it will breath better on hot days. The pad could have a little more cushion, but I'm sure this will be plenty for 1-2 hour rides.

PROS: Comfortable, Versatile, Breathable

CONS: Thin pad
