e.13 TRS+ 11 Speed Cassette

e*thirteen TRS+ 11 Speed Cassette

We like options

No longer just a prototype. These things actually exist. Now available in both a 9-44 or 9-46 tooth 11 speed range, this cassette from e*thirteen is allow about max range. Sure, the current 1x11 speed drivetrains are great, but a 9 tooth cog opens up the possibility for those of us who want or need the ability to run an even smaller front ring. Drop down from 32t to a 30t provides an even easier climbing gear while holding onto the high gear ratio we need for the flats and pinning it down the hill..

The TRS+ cassette utilizes a three piece assembly and an XD driver to make it all possible. An aluminum 3 cog cluster installs to the SRAM XD driver and is held in place with a lock ring. The remaining 8 steel cogs lock into place with the aid of a chain whip. We also enjoy the flexibility this set up can offer. Because the 11 speed and 10 speed versions of this cassette share the same set of lower 8 cogs, it is the simple matter of purchasing the 10 speed upper 2 cogs to go from a 11 speed cassette to a 10 speed drivetrain should your needs call for it. This unique feature also allows for easy replacement of the quicker to wear aluminum cogs instead of having to fork out the dough for a completely new cassette.

Features

  • Ingenious design utilizes XD Driver mounting to enable a 9-44T or 9-46T 11sp cassette
  • Keeps drivetrain simple and still gives the gear range of a 2x system pr more
  • Compatible with SRAM and Shimano shifting systems
  • Cogs:
    • 11-44t = 9,10,12,14,17,20,24,28,32,38,44 - 489% range
    • 11-46t = 9,10,12,14,17,20,24,28,33,39,46 - 511% range
  • Intended Use: XC, Trail, All-Mountain
  • Weight: 9-44T = 320g, 9-46T = 339g

      Perfect
This cassette has been flawless. The shifting is spot-on and the spacing between gear ratios is perfect. Switching to 1x11 with this cassette has been my favorite upgrade. I'm using a KMC X11SL chain, XX1 shifter and GX derailleur with it.

      Awesome 1x setup!
I ordered this by using a 20% discount code off list, which made the price more reasonable- in fact right in line with SRAM's XX cassette. While the SRAM cassette is in fact lighter, it isn't remarkably lighter and the Hive's cassette has much more going for it and any weight penalty is quickly consumed by the awesomeness of this cassette!

For starters, the extra range really does make a difference, I am currently running this with an E*Thirteen TRS+ crank and 34T ring. I am running SRAM's X01 derailleur and the combination shifts flawlessly. I am a little bit of a whimp on the hills and apprecaite the higher bailout.

The other HUGE plus, at least for me is the ability to service the cassette by replacing only the sections that need replacing. You can order the last three rings (aluminum section), the main body, and the small steel cluster rings independently, meaning unlike the competition, I won't have to purchase an entire new cassette when it wears. Brilliant. Pricey, maybe, but lord, what isn't these days on a high end XC or DH ride! Worth the money in my opinion especially if you have a discount code to use!

      Great Cassette
Yes, it's expensive. Figure out ways to afford it or to make it more affordable. It's worth it.

I have a couple of long weekends of riding on the cassette and so far so good. It shifts great, is light weight, and hasn't made an unusual sound.

I've read some complaints about people that couldn't figure out how to install this things...read the instructions, buy and chain whip, it's not difficult and nothing to be afraid of. Installation is pretty straight foreword, really.

Setting up the rear mech was no different than with any other cassette. No need for a long cage or anything like that.

The extended range has been great so far.

I will add that newly designed extended range cassettes and add on extended cogs are released almost every week. In light of that, I don't see anything price or performance wise that would makes me regret this purchase.

      Game Changer!
With the advent of 1x set ups, their seems to be a constant struggle to determine the "perfect" front chain ring to provide the greatest range for the terrain we ride. As cassette technology has greatly increased since my first 1x9 set up years ago, I just can say enough about how amazing it is to have the expanded range that this e.13 cassette provides - for me the range is especially important on the small end, with the 9 speed cog. Wow! It is like adding over-drive to my bike! I absolutely LOVE the additional top-end speed that is provided by having this 9 speed cog. The additional climbing range of the 44T is nice compared to most other 11 speed cassettes offering 42T...but seriously, with the 9 tooth cog, you can run a manageable front ring and still go fast. It's great! e.13 also includes great instructions and tools to mount the cassette. Keep in mind, for removal you will need two chain whips, or just have the shop do it and not worry about it. Love it.

      UNREAL RANGE
I've ridden this setup about 4 times. Can't get over the improvement!!! Allows much better traction on steep and rocky sections while climbing, AND increased velocity blasting downhill!!! (Previously ran 11 speed setup, 32T up front with a SRAM 10-42 cassette on my XC bike. Kept the 32T on the new setup).

Test 1: Old San Juan trail and couldn't believe I could pedal over sections that I used to hike before. Both low gears, 38-44 (instead of 36-42) give additional capacity to crank with control and ease, especially when fatigue sets in.

Test 2: Mt. Wilson trail, lots of steep downhill... the boost in speed was incredible, almost scary since it takes some getting used to. Make sure you have serious braking power, you will need it....

Shifting is as smooth as before. The only glitch I've noticed is occasional squeaking/creaking in the 3 low gears under strain from climbing, hopefully the cassette only needs to be tightened or lubed...

      OUTSTANDING product
By far the MOST underrated product of 2016. I installed it on my Ripley last April. and rode it all the way up to the end of September, when I decided to try out the XX1. I have hundreds of hours on this TRS cassette and it has been flawless. combined with a XTR 9000 GS shifter, it has provided excellent shifting in all conditions and the range is perfect. The Gear combinations were VERY well though out. As mentioned, I swapped the TRS with an XX1. the XX1 has a bit of a cleaner shift, but with out a doubt there are moments when I miss the TRS, especially the 38 tooth ring. by far the most useful ring, if not the perfect ring when matched with a 32 tooth chain ring up front for just about all inclines

Personally, I think this cassette and the new TRSr which is lighter and has more range, puts a nail in the coffin for SRAM's line. unless SRAM dramatically lowers the price on the Eagle, then its a totally unjustifiable purchase. these E thirteen cassettes give all the rage needed for Mountain biking and a fraction of the money, and I can choose the components I want

Nice range, makes climbing my capra easier
I changed out the stock cassette that came on my YT Capra, wanted a lower granny gear to make it more climbable. Really helped out and the thing climbs like a goat.
