e*thirteen TRS+ 11 Speed Cassette
We like options
No longer just a prototype. These things actually exist. Now available in both a 9-44 or 9-46 tooth 11 speed range, this cassette from e*thirteen is allow about max range. Sure, the current 1x11 speed drivetrains are great, but a 9 tooth cog opens up the possibility for those of us who want or need the ability to run an even smaller front ring. Drop down from 32t to a 30t provides an even easier climbing gear while holding onto the high gear ratio we need for the flats and pinning it down the hill..
The TRS+ cassette utilizes a three piece assembly and an XD driver to make it all possible. An aluminum 3 cog cluster installs to the SRAM XD driver and is held in place with a lock ring. The remaining 8 steel cogs lock into place with the aid of a chain whip. We also enjoy the flexibility this set up can offer. Because the 11 speed and 10 speed versions of this cassette share the same set of lower 8 cogs, it is the simple matter of purchasing the 10 speed upper 2 cogs to go from a 11 speed cassette to a 10 speed drivetrain should your needs call for it. This unique feature also allows for easy replacement of the quicker to wear aluminum cogs instead of having to fork out the dough for a completely new cassette.

For starters, the extra range really does make a difference, I am currently running this with an E*Thirteen TRS+ crank and 34T ring. I am running SRAM's X01 derailleur and the combination shifts flawlessly. I am a little bit of a whimp on the hills and apprecaite the higher bailout.
The other HUGE plus, at least for me is the ability to service the cassette by replacing only the sections that need replacing. You can order the last three rings (aluminum section), the main body, and the small steel cluster rings independently, meaning unlike the competition, I won't have to purchase an entire new cassette when it wears. Brilliant. Pricey, maybe, but lord, what isn't these days on a high end XC or DH ride! Worth the money in my opinion especially if you have a discount code to use!
PROS: Durable, Easy To Install, Attractive Design
BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Upgrade, Casual Riding
Test 1: Old San Juan trail and couldn't believe I could pedal over sections that I used to hike before. Both low gears, 38-44 (instead of 36-42) give additional capacity to crank with control and ease, especially when fatigue sets in.
Test 2: Mt. Wilson trail, lots of steep downhill... the boost in speed was incredible, almost scary since it takes some getting used to. Make sure you have serious braking power, you will need it....
Shifting is as smooth as before. The only glitch I've noticed is occasional squeaking/creaking in the 3 low gears under strain from climbing, hopefully the cassette only needs to be tightened or lubed...
I have a couple of long weekends of riding on the cassette and so far so good. It shifts great, is light weight, and hasn't made an unusual sound.
I've read some complaints about people that couldn't figure out how to install this things...read the instructions, buy and chain whip, it's not difficult and nothing to be afraid of. Installation is pretty straight foreword, really.
Setting up the rear mech was no different than with any other cassette. No need for a long cage or anything like that.
The extended range has been great so far.
I will add that newly designed extended range cassettes and add on extended cogs are released almost every week. In light of that, I don't see anything price or performance wise that would makes me regret this purchase.
PROS: Lightweight, Attractive Design
Personally, I think this cassette and the new TRSr which is lighter and has more range, puts a nail in the coffin for SRAM's line. unless SRAM dramatically lowers the price on the Eagle, then its a totally unjustifiable purchase. these E thirteen cassettes give all the rage needed for Mountain biking and a fraction of the money, and I can choose the components I want
Excellent Job E-thirteen

I spent 3 minutes in the driveway with the barrel adjuster, and it has held up for two full-day rides with no further adjustment.
Doesn't shift quite as clean on the larger cogs as the sram cassette did, but totally worth it for the extra range.
If I was replacing the entire drive train I might go Eagle, but if you are keeping your 11 speed, don't even think about buying another sram cassette. This is the one for you.

Q & A
for the derailleur to be able to reach the largest gear on the cassette with clearance there is a screw, actually there are 3 screws on the rear derailleur swing arm. The 2 together govern the outer and inner lateral limit of the arm. The single screw on the rear of the derailleur swing arm is the "B" screw and it's function is to move swing arm forward and rearward to provide chain tension and clearance with the cassette. With the larger gear/shorter chain adequate clearance may not be obtained, hence the longer "B" screw
