We all love what suspension has done for the mountain bike. We can ride faster, and go bigger than ever before. Unfortunately, that also means that we crash bigger than ever before. That means that modern mountain bikers are in need of protection that is progressing as fast as the sport. Well, just as suspension has improved our bikes and riding, so is it improving the helmets that protect us. The 6D ATB-1T has the distinct privilege to be the world's first ¾ coverage helmet that uses Omni-Directional Suspension (ODS). ODS consists of an array of elastomer dampers that sit between the dual EPS liners that absorb and disperse the energy of low, medium and high speed impacts. This means better protection from the types of impacts that are more likely to cause serious brain trauma. In addition to its superior protection, the ATB-1T also features 15 air scavenging transfer ports for maximum ventilation. The moisture wicking, anti-bacterial liner is comfortable and can be washed to keep foul odors at bay. The removable visor adds versatility to meet any riding condition, while the FIDLOCK magnetic closure offers easy operation even with gloves on. Strap on the ATB-1T and feel confident that you have the best protection available for XC, Trail, and Enduro riding.

I purchased this helmet to replace a POC Octal road helmet that was damaged in a crash that resulted in a severe concussion. A friend introduced me to 6D and I am convinced that this is the safest helmet out there to help mitigate concussion risk. I use it as a road helmet without the visor. It is easily removable for those who don't need to bang branches out of the way. It cools well enough in 80+ temperature. I haven't noted any big disadvantage from the extra weight. The smaller vents keep my baldish head form getting sun burned without a cap. I also think without the visor it is aero as well. If style is your only concern than buy something else for the road. In my mind safety trumps coolness . I hope not to crash test it but I feel the safest I ever have on a bike.
As with all helmets take a long look at the coolest factor, of course we all like that kinda of stuff? But what people really should look at 1st. Is since you only have ONE BRAIN, which is not cool to look at after its been turned to gel after wearing a cooler looking helmet vs. THE SAFEST CYCLING HELMENT PRODUCED in my cycling experience which I hate to say is decades +. So I chose the 6D after reviewing so many of the top brands and how they build and than test them. 6D not a huge company but if you look into theirs history you will see why they are to date the safest HELMENT right now. And one that relies on my cycling equipment I am confident that I made the best Choice for my brain so if needed I can ride ANOTHER day. Yes $ factor is hard to swallow at times and than you never look back other times when 20 or 30 bucks gives you the safest equipment possible. Easy choice.
Safe safe safe & cool in my opinion.
Size so I have heard as why should have bought a Smith or a pic, or or, well size is in noticeable, weight in noticeable, cool factor ?? It is cool cool as any other helmet when ur sweating your ass off.
This helmet is awesome! Great fit, does not feel heavier than most mt bike helmets. More expensive the other helmets but I think it's worth it for the extra protection if it works like it says, but who really wants to test it? Only con would be warmer than most.
This is an excellent helmet from a safety stand point. That being said, the helmet is larger than others due to the multiple layers of EPS foam and the omni-directional suspension system. The extra size of the helmet does not present any issues and I don't notice the extra weight at all. Fitting is excellent and helmet is very comfortable! The magnetic clasp on this helmet is pretty awesome too! Just get the two clasps near each other and they often snap right into place. The clasp is also easy to manipulate with one hand gloves on or off! Ventilation seems to be excellent also. I have ridden several days in the upper 80's and low 90's with no increase in head temperature over other helmets I have used from this category.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this helmet and feel confident in it's abilities to protect my brain. This in turn makes me push harder on the trails which translates into more air time and fun! You won't regret this helmet based on the added safety features alone!
Most comfortable and arguably safest helmet I've ever worn!
I just purchased this helmet (orange/white color) this last week and wore it out riding for the first time today. I live out in the high desert of Southern California, and the temp got up to 85F during my ride (high of 94F today), and the only minor negative about this helmet (IMO) compared to my others is that it could use some better ventilation. The helmet is also visibly larger than others, but you don't feel it, and if it offers better safety for your precious head, it's worth buying IMO. For comparison, I also have a Fox Flux, Smith Forefront (non-MIPS), and new Fox Proframe Helmet. The others have a little better ventilation, and the Flux and Forefront are definitely lighter, but the 6D ATB-1 EVO, as stated, is more comfortable, and is arguably the safest MTB helmet currently on the market. I will still wear the Proframe in the winter months and for any park visits with a lot of downhill stuff, but the 6D ATB-1 EVO is now definitely my go-to helmet for trail riding. I do hope the next revision of this helmet offers better ventilation.
This helmet is as I expected. This helmet feels substantial. I come from an off-road motorcycle background and have always felt that Cycling helmets are pretty flimsy for the speeds and terrain encountered on a MTB. The 6D helmet is the first substantial advancement toward a more legitimate protection for the conditions encountered on the trail.
As others have stated, the helmet had a larger overall exterior shell than other helmets, the helmet is also hotter. To me these are a small price to pay for superior fit, and protection. MIPS is a tiny step forward, 6D ODS system is seems far supirior. However there is no way for me to prove this.
First learned about 6D in the moto industry, and when I saw they had a mtb helmet, I knew I had to buy. You only get one head, so might as well buy the best to protect it. Great fit, comfortable, breathable, and surprisingly lightweight for the amount of material. The color scheme is an added bonus! Would buy over and over again.
We like this helmet! It is bigger than your average bear, but worth the big-head look. Seems more substantial than most of the MIPS helmets - our 11 year old is worth it.
Fits my narrow-ish 57 and his rounder 58 head well. Seems better for round heads, as its wider at the temples than my Specialized. FIDLock buckle is neat, but takes some getting used to. I prefer helmets where the straps connect to the top of the helmet, and while this one has the straps tied into the base, it will work.
Black and white version a bit bland, but on sale, a reasonable buy. Only reason its not 5 stars, is its not made here...
Great helmet. Contours to your head very nicely and feels extremely safe. It is heavier than a mips helmet for sure but after a few rides you get used to it and don’t notice it, plus I am okay with the added weight because of how safe it actually is. It also is a bit bulkier because of how their “suspension” works. It is still cool looking though. Brings confidence to your rides.
