I was convinced to try an oval on my mtb and after the month of testing I didn't give it back, I bought it. A month later I started looking at these rings for my road bike. The came in nice packaging that wasn't overly excessive. They came with clear instructions on set up and I had them on my bike inside of 30 minutes. the rings mounted perfectly with my Ultegra cranks.
They definitely help when climbing hills. I can climb for longer and with less fatigue. An added bonus is they actually shift better than the stock chainrings on my Ultegra 8000 crankset. They're stiff, light and now I've been on them for two months without a single issue so I would definitely consider them reliable. If you're at all curious about the science behind oval rings these are the best you can buy.
