Alpinestars

Alpinestars made its debut in 1963 in the small Italian town of Asolo through the craftsmanship of Sante Mazzarolo. Named for the Alpine star flower, Alpinestars got their start making motorcycle boots. It was the early 60’s in northern Italy, and a leather craftsman named Sante Mazzarolo was embarking on a project that would change the face of racing for decades to come. Mazzarolo saw the beginnings of a groundbreaking new sport called motocross, and he knew he had an opportunity. Mr. Mazzarolo began producing the first products bearing the Alpinestars moniker at a time when motocross was establishing itself and becoming popular across Europe. An Opportunity arose. Sante Mazzarolo saw this and began to apply his talents and technical acumen to design a new type of footwear that would meet the protective needs and demands of this beautiful yet brutal new form of athleticism. A revolutionary new boot was produced, and the rest is history. Alpine Stars since then has been honored with a number of Italian design and product awards and has established a reputation for creativity and innovation and are now the world-leading manufacturer of professional racing products, motorcycling airbag protection, high-performance apparel, and technical footwear. Over the years Alpinestars has outfitted countless world champions past and present and produces the highest level of performance and protective footwear and apparel.

The unique demands of motocross require specific types of protection, flexibility, and comfort, Mazzarolo noticed. So he set out to make a boot that could hold its own in the rough world of moto racing. As the sport progressed, Alpinestars became an iconic name in motocross. They weren’t satisfied with just making boots though. Their constant desire to innovate led them to branch out. In the early 1990s, they began making gear for Formula 1 drivers. 2004 would be a hugely innovative year for Alpinestars as well. That year, they partnered with Honda to make the racing apparel for Honda’s team in the UCI Downhill World Cup. The following year, Greg Minnaar won the World Cup while wearing Alpinestars’ apparel.

To this day, Alpinestars' legacy of motorcycle racing and its roots in Italian artistry are crafted into every product.
