Chris King designed the first sealed bearing headset in 1976. Thirty-four years later, the King headset remains a benchmark for quality. No other bicycle component can claim the precision, performance and absolute reliability of a Chris King headset. At Chris King Precision Components, they manufacture each headset in their own facility to exacting standards, using quality-at-the-source methods to minimize waste. Even the sealed, cartridge style bearings are made in-house and are hand-checked.
InSet is the classic, unbeatable Chris King sealed bearing headset built into six configurations for contemporary bicycle headtube dimensions. As a low-stack style headset, the press-in cups and bearings are housed within the headtube allowing for an overall lower ride height. The InSet also features Chris King's GripLock bearing cap design that uses a multi-piece bearing cap and a split ring for improved steerer tube interface.

I just built a new trail bike up from scratch and this was one part that I didn't give a second thought about. I have several other bikes with CK headsets and have never had a worry or problem. This headset is for a tapered headtube with regular 1.5 inch lower and integrated 1 1/8 inch upper (not very common). Once you experience the quality and performance, you'll be a believer too.
PROS: Lightweight, Attractive Design, Easy To Install, Durable
It's a Chris King. It might seem expensive but it's not cause it's gonna outlast your frame or bike. Just buy it, install it and fuggedaboutit! Plus it's the coolest and nicest looking out there which makes it even more worth it.
This would be the first frame on which I've tested the i3 model, and without the slightest hesitation I took this opportunity as soon as I noticed my factory installed headset making noise—ordered a black Chris King inset i3, and of course my expectations were not only met but exceeded by the fit, feel, and performance of this part. I'd buy it again, and for the assurance and performance that Chris King offers—the price is fair.
