Micro Spline is the newest type of cassette from Shimano. If you convert your hub to work with Micro Spline, you'll be able to use Shimano's 12-speed cassettes. The Chris King Micro Spline Conversion Kit converts your 12 x 148mm ISO B rear hub to a Shimano Micro Spline compatible driveshell. It is available with either stainless steel bearings or ceramic bearings if you're looking for higher performance.

DT Swiss has released a new high engagement hub for trail and gravity riders.The new DEG hub still utilizes DT Swiss' ratchet system, but the ratchet itself is almost twice as big as the current ratchet in order to match the large hub shell of the new hub. The max number of teeth available used to be 54, but the new DEG ratchet has grown to 90 teeth, which provides 4º of engagement angle, greatly reducing the play between engagement points.
