If you're ready to take your enduro game to the next level of dangerous, the Continental Der Baron is worth a thorough gander. Formerly known as the "Rain King," Continental quickly realized that this tire was suited for much more than merely the wet conditions that the old name might have implied. In actuality, this tire has been proven to perform in everything from soft and wet to loose and rocky conditions.
Many have found the rounded profile to work particularly well as a front tire, however this purely personal preference. With a fairly-open, symmetrical pattern, the Der Baron deals with rough landings without complaining and rolls easily enough to carry speed going both up and down, while its dual-ply casing with Apex puncture protection and Black Chili compound keep the sidewalls supported under aggressive cornering and effectively prevents punctures.
Versatile tread pattern with good rolling characteristics and a sporting weight
ProTection Tubeless Ready insert and Apex stiffening provides excellent puncture resistance and maximum stability
BlackChili Compound delivers excellent grip, high mileage and efficient rolling
Great traction in the loose and hard. Climbs well on steep and loose without losing traction. Inspires confidence to lean the bike on a turn. Very sturdy sidewalls. Rolls well for how agressive it is. It's a tire that performs well in all conditions, put it on and forget about it
I run this tire front and rear on a full suspension
Was really excited to try these tires out but was immediately disappointed after installing them tubeless and they had about a dozen miniature holes in the side walls. tried a few things suggested by Jenson rep but the tire wont hold pressure longer than a few hours. During a ride the tire performs great chili rubeer grips well and rolls fast but after a bit my tire pressures drop and the performance chances??. I really wish I didn’t have these issues because the tire seems like it would be awesome if it didn’t have these little deformities.
These tires blow off DT 481 rims like crazy, and the sidewall is made of paper. Made it less than 50 feet down the trail before it exploded, not sure if the sidewall tore and then the tire blew off, or vise versa, either way it was a long walk home.
