Finish Line

Keeping your bike clean and lubricated is more important than ever. Your bike chain needs to be cleaned and lubed often so it can work properly. Finish Line has been around since 1988 and came from a time when technically advanced bike lubes were limited. Henry Krause founded the company and created their first product: dry lube with Teflon. Krause believed in the efficacy of Teflon fluoropolymer and its ability to help address the mechanical and lubrication needs of bicycles. Finish Line is now recognized as the world’s leading manufacturer of specialty bicycle lubricants and related maintenance products.

Simply put, if your bike isn’t lubricated properly, then it will not work properly. You wouldn’t use your vehicle without any oil or with dirty oil in the engine, so you shouldn’t ride your bike with dirty lube on it. There are many Finish Line products designed so you can keep your bike running in peak condition. These products range from synthetic oils, chain cleaners, cleaning kits, and other care products.

When you’re cleaning your bike, it is best to start with a degreaser. Degreasers are designed to quickly clean without damaging rubber or plastic components. They are strong enough to tackle grime or metal parts yet safe enough to use around rings and seals. On top of using a degreaser, Finish Line also has chain cleaning products like the Grunge Brush to clean all four sides of the chain. It also has long bristles on the end so you can clean the cassette or derailleurs with ease. There are many other cleaning products like the Pro Chain Cleaner and the Brush Set so you can clean your entire bike efficiently.

After you’re finished cleaning your chain, then it’s time to use some chain lube. Finish Line lube comes in several different types, such as a dry, wet, wax based, and ceramic lube. The Finish Line Dry Lube goes on wet and sets up with a dry synthetic film. This helps keep your chain clean by not absorbing grime or dust from the road or trails. Wet lube is Finish Line’s lube that is recommended for extreme conditions and is highly water resistant. Wet lube is applied wet and stays wet. Similar to dry lube, wax lube is applied wet and sets up dry. It does, however, need to be applied more frequently than dry lube, but it keeps the chain cleaner. If you’re looking to minimize the amount of time you spend on drivetrain maintenance and maximize the amount of time you spend riding, then you’ll want the Finish Line Ceramic Wax or Ceramic Wet lube. Every application builds a ceramic coating up on the chain, providing the durability of many oil-based chain lubricants.

While they are most well-known for their lubes and cleaners, they also have many other products like tire sealants, frame care products, and other specialty products like anti-seize or fiber grip for your carbon components. Jenson USA carries a plethora of Finish Line bike cleaning and care products. Don’t worry, we don’t like cleaning our bikes either, because we’d rather be out riding the trails.
