I am really happy with my purchase. The shoes are a bit expensive but is a big improvement over my old shoes. I felt the sole stiffness help a lot on my pedaling and it also stick way better to the pedals. I definitely recommend it.
These shoes fit true to size and are comfortable straight out of the box. I have never had a pair of bike shoes previously, and had been wearing gum soled skate shoes, which had OK grip and lots of pedal feel. These shoes have tons of grip (so much so that you have to unweight the shoe to shift on the pedals), but I had a lot of trouble feeling the pedals through the shoes which was bad for my confidence for most of my first day with them. I've since learned the pedal feel with these shoes and they are much better now. The hard cap on the toe has also saved me a couple times from rock strikes.
This is by far 5.10's best flat pedal offering yet. The Freerider Pro's are significantly lighter than both the regular Freeriders and Impact's but offer the best of both worlds. Grip and sole stiffness is on par with the original Impacts and infinitely better than the normal Freeriders. The toe is also stitched to prevent the delamination issues that their other models have had. Unless you are riding full blown DH (buy the Impacts if you are) these shoes will take whatever you can throw at them and then some. Much more comfortable to both ride and walk in than their previous offerings and the venting/waterproofing is downright amazing. I can't say enough good things about this model. Will buy another pair when these wear out.
These shoes are wonderful, they fit much better than my old free rider contacts. This shoe grips better, has a stiffer sole, and isnt as hot. The heel cup seemed a little low when I first bought them, but after wearing them i immediatly knew it wasnt an issue. I love the shoes and would recommend getting them.
Stiffer and narrower than normal Freeriders. Stiffess is great. Narrowness not so much. I had to break them in quite a bit more than my others (3x Freerider, 1x Freerider Contact), but hopefully these will stay stiff longer than the normal FRs, which turned to mush under foot after 1 season. They do make great every day sneaks after that though!
My first and previous pair of Five Tens was the OG Freerider model. While it was a big upgrade to using athletic shoes or my steel toed work shoes to ride, I had some big problems with it. Normal shoes I'm a 9.5 but the same size with the Freerider was tight in the toe, despite many reviews saying fit was "as expected." Second issue was with the way Five Ten reinforces the pedal area of the sole. I actually liked this feature, but what I didn't like was how it was noticeably thicker than the rest of the sole. Made it very uncomfortable to be off the pedals, especially in areas where I had to hike-a-bike. First ride out with the Pros and I felt that they fixed at least the 2nd issue. The first issue I dealt with by ordering 1/2 a size up. I also had some issue with finding places to tuck the overly long laces on the OG FR, so I tried out "Lock Laces" with this shoe. Pretty much an awesome combo.
I love these shoes!!! Super sticky!!! Super comfortable!!! I stick to my pedals like glue with no slipping at all. I bought these after a conversation with a friend that had them and I am so happy I took his advise.
love these shoes so far. Expectations were very high from reviews I had read. They have met them. More comfortable than my old freerider vxi. Great protection like my old ones. I have tested that. Ventilation is good and most important they stick to the pedals like glue. Glad I spent the extra money over other models I could have found better deals on.
Awesome shoe! I got these alongside race face chester pedals and the grip is unreal. Previously used tennis shoes and they would slip in any conditions but dry, but these stay true to the pedals no matter what. Sizing is quite accurate as well.
These shoes are awesome. The bottom of the shoe works really well to grip and eliminate the feeling of pedal spikes. Once you find your position it’s almost as if you’re glued in. Makes climbing and overall riding feel a lot better
I'd read about Five Tens for awhile, but had some decent downhill shoes. I finally needed some new ones and read all about the Freerider Pros. The reviews were very good but I was skeptical as usual, but they have exceeded my expectations. They are comfortable, very sticky on pedals and well made. I recommend them. I usually wear a standard US mens size 10 but bought a 10.5. They fit great.
These shoes fit great (avg. width feet) and the new color schemes are a huge improvement over previous versions. I haven't had the shoes for long so I can't comment on long term durability but they seem well built compared to some of Five Ten's older models.
Fit great just like the regular freerider model. Cost more but dry quicker I believe. Definitely made for a slimmer foot compared to the regular suede freerider shoes. Worth trying if you dont mind paying more
FiveTens work for me. Had multiple pairs. Feel like the cushion gets broke down a bit quick but I’m also heavier than the average rider. Runs a tad small which takes the play out for me in my usual size. Solid and feel some added protection compared to other options I’ve tried.
Great Shoe, Reasonable Price, Won’t Be Disappointed!
This is a great show so far. I have taken them on a few rides in Phoenix, AZ South Mountain trails. Even when I finish my rides and it’s 100* outside, my feet still feel cool, they breath rally well. The construction of the shoes have a thick stick sole that stay on your pedals, while holding up to the rocky and sandy terrain of the South Mountains in Phoenix. Even when I’ve had to hike some of the rougher climbs, because I haven’t been able to bike them, traction has been more than enough. Highly recommend these shoes to anyone interested or on the fence. Let’s see how they hold up in the long game!
I have been riding Five Tens for years now. Their rubber compound is hands down the best. The only reason I am giving these shoes 4 stars is because of the lack of ankle protection or support. I know they make shoes with better ankle protection/ support but those shoes are pretty bulky and too stiff. I would be nice if they came out with a half cab type shoe or something.
These shoes run too small. I wore them on one ride. Still looked brand new. Jenson would take them in a return so I could get a larger size. We have ordered many stuff from them before. Will have to rethink that.
