Call it a down-country fork, a beefed up XC fork, or a lightweight trail fork, regardless we can all agree that the 34 Factory Step Cast is the current king of the 34mm short travel fork market. For 2022 Fox have taken an already elite level design and dialed it up to an 11. We’ve even seen UCI World Cup athletes picking the new shockingly light 1496g 34 Step Cast over the slightly lighter weight 32 Step Cast. Simply put, the redesigned 34 Step Cast is back and is not only ready to defend its crown but it’s gunning for the title of best XC fork. The lower leg arch has been redesigned and optimized to shave every gram possible without negatively affecting the overall stiffness. Not to mention that the new arch has been designed to provide additional headtube clearance for more modern and aggressive frames. All new lower leg bypass channels reduce unintended pressure ramping and keep the foam rings and bushings continuously lubricated by circulating lower bath oil to the upper sections of the lower legs. For 2022 Fox improved the Float EVOL so that it now has an enlarged negative air spring, this offers an assist for mid-stroke support. The 34 Step Cast negative air spring can also now be tuned using a volume spacer. The FIT4 damper is an absolute cult classic that offers an incredible amount of adjustment while also being both extremely supportive and sensitive to small bumps. It offers 22 clicks of low-speed compression adjustment and 10 clicks of low-speed rebound adjustment. Combined, this allows you to dial in the 34 Step Cast so that it rides exactly how you want it to. The two position remote allows you to easily lock out or unlock the Fox 34 SC for when you need maximum efficiency on the climbs. Throw in buttery smooth Kashima coating for reduced friction and for good looks and you’ve got yourself an elite level fork that is ready for backcountry exploring or toeing the line at your local XC race.
