Bike Gloves

Bike gloves have been a mainstay in many cyclists’ cycling gear for many years now. Most cyclists have two or more pairs of gloves that they ride with. These gloves can range from cycling gloves for winter to DH MTB gloves. Whether you’re a mountain biker or a road rider, there is a pair of bicycle gloves for you. Bike gloves come in many different shapes, sizes, and styles and have different functionality. Some cycling gloves, like mountain bike gloves, utilize full finger coverage and some even have protection on the knuckles to help prevent abrasion. Road bike gloves are all about comfort. If you’re going to be in the saddle for two or more hours, your hands better feel good the entire time.

Mountain bike gloves are mostly full finger cycling gloves. Having the full coverage helps protects the fingers from the annoying brush that hangs out on the trail. The palms of the mountain bike gloves are optimized for high grip. When you’re bombin’ down the mountain, the last thing you want is for your hands to fly off the handlebars. Much like how mountain bikes come in different styles for Enduro, XC, trail, and DH, gloves come in different styles too. Bike gloves for XC and trail are lighter weight and use ventilated materials, so your hands can breathe. Enduro and DH mountain bike gloves are more robust and have protected areas to help prevent abrasion if you fall.

Road bike gloves are all about being lightweight and ventilated. The palms feature padding to help absorb the vibrations riders feel while on the road. Higher end road bike gloves will utilize gel padding or memory foam padding. Road bike gloves often use a half finger design for when riders are riding in the warmer weather and will have a full finger design for riders who ride in colder weather. The materials used in these gloves have moisture wicking properties. Many road bike gloves will come with reflective elements to many riders more noticeable in the evening or early morning.

For riders who don’t like to let the weather dictate when they can ride, there are cold weather cycling gloves. Nothing is worse than going out for a ride and then having your hands hurting nonstop because of the freezing air. There are many different kinds of gloves for cold weather riding. Windproof cycling gloves are designed for cold weather riding but are for those days when there is just a little chill in the air. Winter cycling gloves are built for the coldest climates. If you’re an avid snow rider, then these are the gloves for you. Waterproof cycling gloves are mostly used for cold weather riding but can also be used in warmer climates.

Riders don’t just use bike gloves for comfort or grip, they can also be used to add a touch of style while you’re riding. Many gloves, like the Fox Racing MTB gloves, come in different colors.
