Industry Nine Torch I25TL Wheelset
Road rims keep getting wider as more and more riders get hooked on the advantages of lower pressures and larger volume road tires. The Industry Nine Torch I25TL Wheelset is purpose-built for all-out road cycling domination. The I25TL utilizes a 23.2 wide rim extrusion instead of a traditional 19-19.5mm industry standard width. This small change in rim width results in huge gains in lateral stiffness and strength. Even more compelling is the added sidewall support the I25TL rim provides. This extra support allows the rider to use 10-15 psi lower tire pressure for exceptional cushion on the road and improved cornering grip. Pair these stunning features with tubeless capability and you're got yourself one knockout of a rim. When coupled with the industry standard 23c and 25c tires, the I25TL introduces improved aerodynamics by allowing a smoother transition of airflow from the tire to the rim.
For the latest version of the Industry Nine Torch I25TL Wheelset, a 24 hole 2/1 lacing pattern is used on the rear wheel. This pattern reduces wheel weight and works to even out spoke tension and maintain maximum durability. Torch rear wheels feature 16 spokes on the rear drive side flange, paired with 8 opposing spokes. Due to the rear wheel dish caused by the cassette on the rear wheel, this orientation evens out spoke tension. As a result, peak stress loads are reduced on the spokes and rim, as well as the fatigue cycle incurred in a traditional 24 spoke wheel - allowing a lower spoke count and lighter weight, without the durability issues and increased rim weights commonly associated with low spoke count wheels.
The road version of the Torch freehub is much like the mountain version but with a few added adjustments for road cycling performance. The pawl count has been reduced from 6 to 3 for lower drag and weight while still achieving an impressive 6 degree engagment. Relocated bearings and a new freehub seal are added to the mix as well to reduce freehub drag while coasting. As a final precaution, Torch hubs feature custom Teflon seals for endcaps, which are manufactured in house at Industry Nine's facility in Asheville, North Carolina. These seals fully protect the hubs from mud, water, and other messy gunk. Tough enough for CX yet smooth enough for road racing performance, the Industry Nine Torch I25TL Wheelset is a top-shelf wheelset.
