Intense Cycles

Intense Cycles was founded in the mid-90s during the heyday of American mountain bike racing. NORBA races were as big as World Cups and pro riders including Shaun Palmer and Leigh Donovan cemented themselves as legends in the sport. During these glory years, Intense’s first downhill bike, the M1, landed atop many podiums. At the break of the century, the California company signed Chris Kovarik and a new chapter of racing history was born. Kovarik dominated the World Cup circuit and broke multiple records. With his guidance, Intense bicycles further developed their downhill bike turning it into a true DH weapon. In 2009, they produced several 29” wheeled downhill bikes. The bike industry was skeptical, to say the least. Fast forward to 2017, 29” wheeled DH bikes have become a standard appearance on the world cup circuit. They began testing their new M29 carbon 29” downhill bike, 8 years after the initial 29” testing was performed. To say Intense MTB was ahead of the curve is an understatement.

Intense Bikes may have deep roots in downhill racing, but they have developed a full range of mountain bikes ready to conquer every discipline the sport has to offer. All of their full suspension bikes use a suspension platform called the JS Tuned Suspension System, or “Jeff Steber” Tuned Suspension. JS Tuned Suspension is smooth through the chatter and extra efficient for pedaling. It also provides you with a bottomless suspension feel when you plow through the bigger stuff. The bikes find the perfect balance between agility and stability. Intense mountain bikes produces full suspension bikes in 27.5, 27.5+, and 29-inch wheels.
