The Maxxis CrossMark II improves on the speed of its predecessor while also improving grip in intermediate conditions. The legendary center ridge still flies on hardpack, and the updated tread pattern provides better braking and cornering over a wide range of trail conditions. Matched to Maxxis' Exo protection to resist sidewall cuts and abrasions while mainting a lightweight tire with high flexibility makes the tubeless ready Crossmark II Exo tire a great choice if you want to go fast everywhere.
Tightly packed center knobs for speed over hardpack
Open-side knob design for versatile cornering
Designed for speed, revised for control so you don't have to sacrifice either
Tubeless Ready to keep your ride worry free
60 TPI provides a plush but supportive ride character
I recently put the cross marks on both my bikes. I ride rocky, dry, sandy and hardpack terrain in the desert southwest. These tires are incredible because they hook up well for climbing and cornering but are incredibly fast for not being an xc race tire like the Icons. They are my new go to tire.
Great tire for xc riding. Fast on the fire roads and grippy on the single track. Very durable so I trust them when I’m out in boonies. The only bummer is they are no light weight race tire. That being said I’d rather race knowing I’m not going to flat then be a few grams lighter
Excellent tire for AZ deserts -- and occasional work commute
This is my second Crossmark. The first was the victim of a sidewall cut from a nasty sharp rock on a night ride in the Tucson Mountains trail network, but I liked it enough to buy another. In any case, the prominent, and more-or-less continuous, center ridge allows for good speed on our hard pack trails here, and when the trail gets softer in the draws and gullies the knobs aren't far away on the shoulders. Seems to work great. Also, the center ridge makes the tire roll fast & smooth - for a mountain bike tire, anyway - on my once or twice per week 18 mi roundtrip ride to work. In fact, it rolls well enough that I haven't put much effort into buying second set of 29'er wheels to put street tires on like I did for my old 26" Marin mountain bike.
