If in doubt, go for a Bronson
Santa Cruz’s Bronson has long been the do everything, general mountain bike in the Santa Cruz lineup. It’s the bike you reach for when you don’t know which bike to bring to the ride. Built from some of Santa Cruz’s lightest and strongest carbon fiber. The Bronson CC is not only incredibly strong and robust, it’s also the lightest version of the Bronson frame available. For 2022 Santa Cruz has changed things up a bit and gone with a mullet style platform (on all sizes except for extra small). A mullet style setup is a 29” wheel in the front and a 27.5” wheel out back. This setup gives riders the increased grip and rolling speed of a 29” tire up front with the agile and playful characteristics of the 27.5” wheel out back, translating into the best of both worlds. With 2.6” of tire clearance you’ll also be able to run your favorite tire combo. For 2022, Santa Cruz have also altered the geometry of the Bronson and made it slacker, extended the reach, and have optimized the chainstay length depending on the frame size, ensuring you’ll end up with a frame that’s perfect for you and all of the all-mountain shredding you do. With the included flip chip you can alter the geometry even more to accommodate your riding style. 160mm of travel in the front and 150mm in the back provides plenty of travel for just about any trail you’ll encounter. With Santa Cruz’s tried and true VPP platform on board you won’t have to worry about wasting any watts on the climb back up. A threaded bottom bracket, integrated headset, and a SRAM universal UDH universal derailleur hanger make maintenance and servicing the Bronson easy.
The CC X01 MX build sports a SRAM X01 12-speed drivetrain, which offers a massive 10-50T cassette, and when paired with the 32T chainring provides plenty of gearing to get you up the steepest of climbs. SRAM’s X1 carbon cranks ensure you won’t be wasting any watts and keep weight to a minimum. Braking is handled by SRAM’s top of the line Code RSC brakes, they offer excellent modulation and exceptional stopping power. Suspension up front is supplied by Fox in the form of their 36 Factory fork. It offers an incredible amount of adjustment and buttery smooth performance. Rear suspension comes in the form of a highly tunable RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate. For wheels you’ll find a set of durable and reasonably light tubeless ready RaceFace ARC 30 rims laced to smooth and high engagement Industry Nine 1/1 hubs. Wrapped around the rims is everyone’s favorite Maxxis tire combo, a Minion DHF up front and a Minion DHR II out back. Santa Cruz’s 35 carbon bar dampens vibrations while also helping to keep the front end stiff. All in all we can say with complete certainty that this build truly is the bee’s knees.
