Now in its 4th rendition, the Santa Cruz Nomad has become one of the most renowned and sought-after bikes in the mountain bike industry. Since its inception in 2006, the Nomad has evolved into a true trail weapon. The biggest evolution of the bike occurred in 2018 when Santa Cruz took the Nomad and incorporated the V-10’s suspension linkage into the frame. Santa Cruz created a bike that descends like a downhill bike but can still pedal to the top of the mountain. The V-10 design provides feather-light small bump sensitivity, mid-stroke support, and overall progression you typically only experience on a downhill bike. In other worlds, the bike smooths out the rockiest rocks and can easily take the big hits and drops.
Even though the new Nomad sounds like a mini-DH bike, it still climbs like a goat. It handles valley-to-valley alpine runs and all-day missions with ease. The steep seat tube angle will keep you pedaling efficiently and room for a 170mm dropper will get that seat out of the way for those rowdy descents. The Nomad is truly one of the first bikes to perfectly balance the benefits of a downhill bike with the efficiency of a trail bike. It’s a long and low shred sled that still loves to push up the climbs.
The Aluminum Nomad S is the highest end aluminum build that Santa Cruz offers. With the S build, you get an incredible bike with an elite level build kit without spending the couple extra grand for the carbon frame. A Fox Performance fork and Rock Shox Super Deluxe rear shock provides a supple and smooth ride, the SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain provides all the gears you need to make it up the steepest climbs, and Code R brakes provide incredible stopping power when descending those steep chutes.
If you are looking for a bike that will let you get as rowdy as possible while still providing a lift to the top, the Nomad was designed for you. Take your riding to the next level. Ride with more confidence than ever before.
Pinkbike - " In search of a bike that can handle bike park and shuttle laps without batting an eye, but that can still be pedaled uphill for unassisted missions? The Nomad is a very, very worthy option." - Mike Kazimer
Mountain Bike Rider - " Do-it-all bikes that deliver the goods are few and far between but Santa Cruz has nailed it with the latest Nomad. It strikes a perfect balance between fun, speed and versatility, so if you’re looking for one bike to cover every occasion the Nomad really should be top of your list." - Alan Muldoon

After the first few rides I'm definitely impressed. The redesigned rear suspension is super plush but still pedals well. On the downhill the bike really excels. While not a brand name match the Fox 36 grip damper felt great paired to the Rockshox super deluxe shock. I got a PR the first time I pointed the bike downhill. The Code brakes w/ 200mm rotors feel strong and predictable. The shift quality and range of the eagle 50t cassette means there's no need for a front derailleur; nice. Definitely impressed with quality of the build kit. I was looking for a long travel bike I could pedal that would shine on the downhill sections. So far so good. After having a couple carbon bikes, the aluminum frame saved me some $$$ and was sort of nostalgic. Kind of like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while... and he picks up the tab for lunch. I hate giving 5 out of 5 but this bike has been amazing. I give it 5 lemon pledge polished stars.
