Whether you're leaving your stamp on the local XC series or jockeying dense singletrack, Scott's MTB Premium shoes feature a linear high modulus carbon fiber sole in a 10 ply layup, providing an insanely stiff launching pad that won't weigh you down. The MTB Premium shoes forgo the conventional ratcheting buckle and instead use an IP1 dial closure system at the top with two lower anatomic fit straps that articulate and conform to the shape of the foot. The result is a straightjacket-like foot hold, without the irritating pressure points.
The asymmetrically conforming upper is perforated and breathable, as it's constructed of microfiber air mesh, while the ErgoLogic insole features an adjustable arch support and Metatarsal button to reduce forefoot numbness and evenly distribute compression. This Arch adjustment permits proper foot alignment and allows adaptability to individual arch height and fit.
BOA IP-1 Closure System offers pull-to-release functionality for easy on/off and two-way incremental adjustment on-the-fly.
Anatomic Centering Strap automatically aligns the top strap with the instep of the foot.
Wrap Fit upper system provides a supportive structure that is comfortable and free of pressure points.
Racing Fit features a smaller volume, slim fit.
Metatarsal Pad reduces forefoot numbness and evenly distributes pressure.
Arch Adjustment allows for correct foot alignment and adjusts for individual arch geometry and fit.
Power Zone carbon fiber outsole has a stiffness index of 10 and a replaceable TPU heel tread.
X Traction outsole offers excellent off the bike grip and traction.
Composition: Outsole: HMX Carbon, Two Component PU / Stiffness Index 9 // Upper: Lightweight Microfiber, 3D Nylon Airmesh

I was having trouble with the balls of my feet hurting and was looking for a very hard sole. They have fixed this issue. BUT i had no idea that they would make my riding better. The way they transfer power and how light they are really makes a huge difference. They are not good at walking though, just pedaling.
The build quality of the shoe is very nice, but it has some advertising issues.
On their own these shoes are great, very stiff and comfortable. But it has one very misleading claim: They are advertised as coming with an adjustable insole with high, medium, or low arch support. This is false information. It comes with an insole that has an arch insert (which is labeled Medium) that is removable. If you remove the arch insert that is considered "low" arch support. There is no ability to have high arch support, the image presented on the Scott website shows an insert with this but Scott has confirmed that this does not exist. You can get a true adjustable insole by paying $30 for Scott's aftermarket insole. So if you want what is advertised, you have to pay $30 more.
I had a accident recently that I broke a piece off my old shoes & needed some new ones. Years ago I had a set of Shimano carbon shoes that I loved til I wore them out. So I started looking online for a replacement set which might have carbon soles plus the BOA system. I took a chance on these & so far so good.
This shoe is very well built. The BOA system works well but have not gone through heavy mud yet. My foot tends toward narrow and fits well. Sizing seems towards half a size large but not too much in my case. The alignment guides for the clips are a good reference to have. The platform is very stiff and the inside very comfortable. I have a long travel trail bike and use this shoe for long rides when knowing climbing will be done.
