Shimano’s workhorse new Deore XT drivetrain is here and it’s delivering phenomenal 12-speed performance in the form of the M8100 XT rear derailleur. Starting off with the new pulley design, Shimano have implemented larger 13t pulleys for increased efficiency and chain management. They’ve also decreased tension in lower gear position while also implementing a pulley cage bumper to help quiet down the drivetrain system. The lightweight and short cage design helps to deliver superior rear suspension movement. The GS variant is a full 28mm shorter than the SGS variant, which pairs well with the short-cage design for a more protected derailleur setup. The M8100 XT rear derailleur offers terrific top tier 12-speed shifting performance that’s bound to shift perfectly for countless miles.
