SPANK SPIKE 350 VIBROCORE 29" RIM

Spank has been making high-quality wheels and rims for over 15 years, so it's no surprise that they continue to produce new and innovative designs for their rims. Wheels are arguably the most important part of a bike and there has been very little innovation seen in the compliancy and responsiveness of wheels as the first, most important contact and conductor. Spank noticed that many innovations were being made in frame and suspension technology to make up for the stiffer rims that were being produced, so they decided to re-examine how the engineering of the wheel can become an active contributor to the efficiency of the overall set up.

Spank went with a wide and low-profile rim which adds significant radial compliancy and reduced deflection of the wheel when it hits abrupt obstacles or rutted corners. The shallow and wide profile also added lateral stiffness and torsional strength which keeps the wheel true and reduces the likelihood of the wheel buckling. With an internal rim width of 30.5mm, it is perfect for 2.0” to 2.6” tires and will even allow some plus sized tires to be used. Inside Spank's rim is the Vibrocore foam which maximizes torsional strength and dampens vibration. Only adding 40 grams to the overall weight of the rim, the Vibrocore foam increases the fatigue life of the rim meaning you'll have high durability in a low weight package.
