The Surly Porteur House bag is for the type of person who likes accessories that make a bike infinitely more useful. With dimensions sitting at 400 x 270 x 450mm, fully extended, this bag will be a monolithic figurehead of two-wheeled practicality perched on the front of your bike. The strap system keeps it planted to your rack, and it's more than large enough to bring home the bacon €“ literally €“ go to the store and get some bacon.
Designed to work with the Sulry 24 Pack Rack, it uses eight velrco straps for mounting. Included with the bag are three urethane coated, water-resistant nylon stuff sacks for an added layer of protection the 2 front pockets and the large main compartment. The Porteur House also comes with a shoulder strap so you can take the bag off the bike.
I had this thing packed with camping gear and still managed to fit a 12 pack in it for a night on the Colorado River. A bit on the heavy and unnecessary side but hey, you knew that, but it sure is rad!
If it's your cup of tea, it's very good tea indeed.
This bag is great. When my daughter and I commute to school (I'm a teacher) we can get our change of clothes, teaching supplies, lunches, her backpack, and rain gear in comfortably with the bag rolled down really tight. Then if we need to bring something else home or want to grab something along the way, we know we have the room to carry it. We use it with the 24 pack rack, a surly disc trucker, and a trailer bike. It locks in stable for fast descents in the morning and doesn't try to throw the bike around on tedious end of day climbs. The waterproof liners are great. The bag attaches quickly to the 24 pack rack and detaches even quicker at our destination. I'm still trying to figure out my preferred way of stowing the shoulder strap, but I love how well the bag shoulders when we stop at the bakery. It's an expensive and dweeby piece of gear, but if someone stole it, I'd replace it immediately.

How rigid is the bottom of this bag? The reason I ask is I have a Trek Transport cargo bike that has it's own front rack, but it's a bit smaller than Surly's 24 pack rack and it has slightly raised sides. This bag would be great if the straps are long enough and the bottom can flex enough to sit on top of the raised sides.

BEST ANSWER:The bottom is fairly rigid. I don't think this is the bag you're looking for.
