Last year TRP began working with reigning UCI DH World Cup Champion and all-around bicycle magician, Aaron Gwin. Out of the gate, Gwin was taken by the G-Spec Quadiem's performance, but he did have a list of improvements needed to achieve his level of World Cup-winning performance. Working alongside the TRP development team, improvements were made to every part of the brake necessary. They were then tested on the ultimate playing field: the World Cup circuit. They performed well throughout the season. The result of meticulous and intensive work, the G-Spec Quadiem is made from forged aluminum that has been CNC'd, polished, then anodized, giving the brakes a brilliant finish. They also feature the new dimpled and drilled lever blade designed by Aaron Gwin. Riders will also find four hybrid pistons (ceramic/steel) for improved heat dissipation, tool free indexed reach adjust, and CNC cooling fins on the caliper.
Four hybrid piston caliper utilizes ceramic and steel for lightweight durability
CNC machined caliper with cooling fins to sustain performance during heavy use
Tool free indexed reach adjust letting you adjust reach on the go
Adjustable banjo fitting for optimal house routing
I installed these on my DH rig. At first, I thought they were massive moto brakes, but after using them, I don't want to use anything else. The modulation is amazing and the lever pull is smooth and solid. They also use mineral oil instead of DOT fluid so bleeding is less corrosive. 10/10
I love these. I've had several version of shimano xt, delore & sram brakes and while I don't have have a 'major' complaint about those, These offer way more control/modulation. Much more confidence inspiring at the bike park. I use these on a trail/enduro bike. The braking power is plenty for me. Granted, I have not tried other multi-piston offerings (saint). I am a fan of using mineral oil as well. I'll be converting my other bike next spring.
