Maxxis MTB Tire Review by Jeff Kendall-Weed

Jeff Kendall-Weed has had a long relationship with WTB and has spent a lot of time testing those tires and giving his feedback on the best options from them. But, the Maxxis fan club is real, and the requests for Jeff to try them out have finally been answered! Head into this article and watch the video to see what Jeff thinks of these fan favorite tires and his thoughts on how they compare to the competition from WTB.

I’ve been riding Maxxis tires on a few of my mountain bikes for three months now, and in a pretty good variety of trail conditions, which lead me to posting this review. I used to work at Wilderness Trail Bikes, also referred to as WTB, and still enjoy many of their tires. However, Maxxis has the largest share of the bicycle market, and their tires are much more common in the field. Since I’m not officially affiliated with WTB, this has been a great chance to spend some time sampling some of the best tires from Maxxis.

In front, I’ve been using the grippy Assegai 29x2.5WT Double Down with MaxxTerra rubber.

In rear, I’ve enjoyed the fast rolling Aggressor 29x2.5WT Double Down in most conditions.

Maxxis Minion Dhr II 29" Tire

A more aggressive rear tire option that I’ve liked a lot in the wet is the Minion DHR II 29x2.4WT Double Down MaxxTerra.
