Comments about Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 2012:
I run BB7s on two of my bikes, one is a mountain bike and the other is an adventure/touring bike with drop bars and road brake levers. Hydro discs are not really even an option when using road levers, so I went with BB7s since they are the best mechanical brakes that I know of. BB7s are easy to set up and easy to adjust, plus they use a larger brake pad than most of the competition. Replacement pads are easy to find to boot. I have other brands of disc brakes on some of my other mountain bikes, but I have had brake noise problems with some brands, and baking power is not as good with some of the others as well. So, even though these may cost a little more, I think that they are worth it.

Couldn't be happier with the results I'm getting from these brakes. I installed them in 10-15 minutes, it comes with everything you need. It's been 1 month since I bought them and now I can do downhill up to 40MpH, hit the brakes for a quick stop or regulate speed with a lot of precision. The fact that I'm new to MTB is compensated with the performance of these brakes. Now I can catch up with my buddies which are medium level Mountain Bikers! 110% Recommended

Comments about Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 2012:
These brakes work very well and are easy to set up. I'm using them with Jagwire Ripcords and XTR V brake levers, 160mm rotors provide all the stopping I need for regular cross country riding. It takes at least one good 2-3 hour ride to get the pads broken in.

Comments about Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 2012:
I added the BB7s to my Specialized StumpJumper after years of using standard Avid rim brakes. Installation was very straight forward and only took a couple of hours from start to finish. These brakes work really well. I am sorry I did not upgrade sooner.

Comments about Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 2012:
I am using BB7s with Paul Love Lever compacts and Jagwire cables. With a 185mm rotor up front and a 160mm rotor in back, power is more than sufficient for my uses. I am 155 pounds, and ride XC on a 29er. Although I ultimately prefer the feel and modulation of good hydraulics, this is still an excellent, bulletproof setup. Modulation is quite good and reliability appears to be top notch. Following the included instructions, I find pad positioning to be relatively simple. If you want a dependable and quality mechanical disc brake, look no further than the BB7.

Upgraded everything on my entry level Raleigh talus 5.0 including the promax brake setup. These brakes are quiet, easy to adjust and just adds awesome control to the bike.
