I upgraded from 9-speed Ultegra; wow what a difference. These shifters perform beautifully and provide positive and crisp shifting.

Rear shifting and brakes were very easy to set up. Getting the indexing set up in the rear was no problem. Front indexing was a lot harder due to the fact that the instructions provided don't cover setting up your derailleurs. Unlike earlier shifters, properly setting up front shifting requires you to add a bit of slack to the cable prior to tightening. Otherwise the shifter will have to swing way to far over into the big ring before the inexing 'click'. But I had to download the Dura Ace 7900 front derailleur manual to figure that out (for the record, I am using a 10-speed Ultegra FD, and it works just fine as long as you set it up according to the DA instructions).

They ship with a full set of cables and housing, which is also nice

You pay the price with aluminum and Ti on a part that takes a lot of abuse. I didn't find this worth the price. There have been some compalints of chain skipping or rear cassette noise dispite the expert set up. I experience noise upon climbing. As soon as I put an SRAM cassette on the back, the noise was gone. It's not internal, it's not the indexing, it's ti and aluminum carrier and I think at some point you have to say what part of my bike am I going to compromise for weights sake. I even put on downtube shifters and it still made the noise. I see the problem as a mix of ti and aluminum on throughout the whole carrier

On my 40+ mile training rides I like the smoother shifts on the route. Transfer of the jumps into intervals is great. Recommend to all that when you change to a Dura-Ace get a top quality Shimano or Sram chain as I did, wow the difference!

I've been riding D/A for a good while now, and have always had great luck w/ all D/A components. You'll notice the guy that hated it weighs 185, yeah, of course you'll have problems w/ it, if you ride in the cleidsdale div. Its made for racers. I weigh 140, and am notorious for being hard on my bikes, and when properly set up, D/A rides wonderfully. If ya ride Shimano and got the cash, get D/A.

Based on my experience I wouldn't buy anything else, however I wish they were a little cheaper and I wish 9 speed was more readily available.
