I have been using this for two seasons of XC riding and racing.
The stock lube wore off after about half a season, which is fine by me. I used wax based lube thereafter because I avoid riding in wet conditions and it took the lube quite well. 400 miles and it is in great condition.

I purchased this chain approximately 1 month ago and have few rides on it. A pin broke during my ride and I had to hike back about 4 miles to my truck.
I rode with my last chain which was a Shimano for 3 years and never had a problem with it. I finally changed it because it stretched and caused my bike to shift incorrectly.
What irritates me the most is that my local bike shop charged me $40.00 and assured me this chain is a great replacement for my Shimano!
OVER PRICED PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!

I bought this chain to install on my single speed. It does the job. The single speed chain are often heavier so this solution works great for me. Bought a half link to fit in the chain.

Comments about Sram PC-971 9SP Chain 2013:
I'm well over 200 pounds and do a lot of climbing. I lube using Rock N Roll chain lube every other ride and wipe with paper towel after lubing. This chain stretches beyond its useful life for me without breaking. Pointers:
1. Lube right out of the box. It comes waxed to prevent rust;not proper chain lube.
2. Lube every or every other ride.
3. Wipe clean after lube.
4. Buy a chain wear gauge and replace at the most 1.0.
5. Have a great ride!

I use it with an Ultegra drive train for road riding and with an XT drive train for mountain biking. They shift smoothly, are inexpensive, and I have yet to break one.

Comments about Sram PC-971 9SP Chain 2013:
I use SRAM 971 chains on my mountain, road, and cross bikes, and they've proved to be a good value. I don't buy expensive chains because I change them before they wear out my cassette/chainrings, and the 971 is a good balance between price and performance. They're not the best chain of all time, sure, but they work well and are a good value. The Powerlink make installation easy.

I won't buy if your doing hard climbs and put a lot of miles on your bike. Save time, money and trouble and get the more expensive chains.

I go through chains to keep my drivetrain running well. The 971 works just as well as other higher grade chaines purchased.
