I have used this fork for lung-busting 10 mile climbs here in Colorado Springs (7,000ft+ elevation) and full days at full speed in Trestle DH park with 15ft drops. I can say that this is truly my do-it-all fork. For DH and Urban riding it takes big hits with no problem. And I mean HUGE hits. Also, my fatigue at the end of the day was indeed less as promised by the Kashima coating.
As far as XC and trail riding, this thing may as well be a tall xc fork. On my scale it weighed in at 4.47 lbs. The lockout works as intended- though I almost never use it as this fork has almost zero small bump compliance. This translates to zero pedal bob, but don't get this fork expecting ultra plush. It is plush for big and fast, but it takes quite the jolt to get this thing moving into its travel.
All that being said, there is really no other fork out there that can fill the niche that this one fills. If you have a 6" bike- this fork is without a doubt your best choice. It is lighter and more reliable than either Rock Shox or Marzocchi. Yes it is more expensive, but at almost 1lb lighter than its closest competitor- it is worth it. It is one of those rare upgrades for your ride that actually will make you a better rider. The reason is that this fork will inspire such confidence that you will try bigger and faster things. I love this fork overall, but again be warned that it is NOT plush for the small stuff-even for an air fork.

One of the most consistent, dependable, adjustable and fluid forks I have owned. Easy to set up and also easy to maintain. The stock seals, for whatever reason, were squeaky, and when I re-built/serviced the fork, I replaced them, along with new oil etc. Can be set up exactly how you like it. Crazy stiff, especially with the 20mm axle. The QR feature made removing the front wheel a breeze as opposed to the 5-bolt system of old. You cannot go wrong with this fork. Only downside is the sticker-shock. You get what you pay for though.. Check out a video of it in action (on local XC trails though): http://vimeo.com/33812196

This fork has changed everything about my bike because now i can corner like a pro and every ride i am surprised by how smooth the travel is even off of big drops it feels endless. the small bump cant even be felt if sag is set at 20%. The lock out works like a charm and can just stiff the fork up some if you don't want full lock out. the only downer is the long break in period before that is up the small bump performance is bad but after your first oil change your good to go!
