Continentals Explorer is a good choice for all-around use. It works well in many of the MTB trail conditions youll encounter. With several options to choose from, there is a version of the Explorer for virtually any application:
- 2.1", Steel bead offers the same tread pattern in an economical wire bead; 620 grams
- 2.1" ProTection adds a folding kevlar bead and lightweight 170 TPI casing; 525 grams
- 2.1" SuperSonic is folding kevlar bead, and a feathery 460 grams for race use

the tires are worth the amount of money you pay for them. although they aren't too smooth on the street the work great on the trails. if you are looking for good tires that aren't too expensive this is the best you will get
The tires were good while they lasted. Continental should have done some more R&D on the design of these tires before claiming better puncture resistance.
