Over 20year commuter, and have had many rear lghts -cheap to expensive. This Blackburn really does the trick; very alerting, 3 mode, waterproof, and the kicker? Doesn't eat batteries! A lot of reviews mention how effective this one or that one is the next best, But generally fail at how long they run if they run by own battery. Too often runtimes are woefully short. As a commuter, it is a hassle to find a dead light, or charge it the night before. The Blackburn Mars 3.0 goes a LONG time between batt changes, bright/attention grabbing, never find water inside during winter. So good that I bought a few so I could share the base clips. (probably why these are still made.) I'm not even curious of the 4.0

A very bright light with really annoying flashing patterns. Exactly what you want for communting.
I'm bad about loosing lights around the house and this one is cheep enough that I bought three(three bikes).

Highly visible and uses doesnt turn on accidentally if its in your bag or whatever, also durable as ive broken clips off similar taillights, but this one when I yanked it off my helmet too strongly, the assembly came apart rather than the clip snapping off, I popped it back together and was good as new. Super bright & nice to have 3 options, constant beam, flash, and chase mode which is my favorite. I like to attach it to the back of my shoe and it holds very securely
