You get a funnel, a stopper and a cover.
I used this with Shimano XT M785 brakes.
Funnel screws into the resivor, fill it with oil and bleed away until the air bubbles cease. Once done, stick the stopper in the funnel and unscrew it. The stopper prevents any oil from coming out of the funnel. Place the funnel over your bottle of oil, pull out the stopper to drain the clean oil back into the bottle.
Makes bleeding really easy, convenient and with little mess.

bought this so that I can bleed my XT brakes.
most newer shimano brakes are now becoming dependant on this funnel type bleeded....older ones where the master cylinder cover had to be removed are less and less common......
this works well, but you still need a syringe and tubing to push the fluid from the calliper to the master........i'm not sure why they do not include one in the package, its not like it will cost them much more to included it and a $1 increase in price would be reasonable.
i also think that these should be included with every new disc brake purchase. i was not happy to find out that i needed this tool after i had purchased my brake sets.
also the funnel and stopper is supplied with a cover/stand that allows you to cover the funnel while bleeding to prevent slashes out of the funnel, and when you are finished, you can turn the cover over and it becomes a stand for the funnel so it can be placed on a tabletop or something similar.....this is pretty handy.

I purchased this at the same time as my M988 trail brakes, understanding that I would need to trim the lines before using them.
I had read online that this tool was not needed to do the job and a regular syringe can be used instead (without the stopper). Well, why bother messing around (perhaps literally)?
Yes, you could probably just jam the plastic tip of a syringe into the threaded hole on the lever and let it collect the fluid. But this tool is cheap as dirt, screws into that hole snugly, and comes with a little stopper device so removing it from the lever once it's full of fluid is a tidy process.
Why mess around? I do wish that this were transparent as it'd make it a bit easier to see when it's getting full (as I push fluid through the line from the caliper)... and, more importantly, I feel this ought to be included with the brakes in the first place. I understand that may present a logistical problem of sorts as brakes are sold individually but most often bought in pairs (meaning you'd end up with two of them).
Meh. Happy with the purchase.
