SRAM’s new XX1 group seeks to simplify the traditional mountain drivetrain. By using a single front chainring and removing the front derailleur, the new XX1 group maintains a competitive weight while significantly reducing the amount of maintenance required. In order to create a drivetrain that offered the same range as traditional 2x groups, SRAM employed a wide range, 11 speed cassette that, in conjunction with the front chain ring gearing, could recreate all those favorite gear ratios that 2x riders were accustomed to.
The XX1 crank was developed for maximum chain control. Each tooth’s thickness is precisely CNC’d to perfectly support the chain. The X-SYNC chainring system allows you to change the chainring for any other X-SYNC ring without having to remove the crank arm.
With its horizontal parallelogram design and pulley offset, the X-HORIZON rear derailleur keeps the chain gap constant across all 11 gears, providing fast, precise shifts. By limiting all movement to the horizontal axis, the X-Horizon shifts faster, reduces the force required to shift, and eliminates ghost shifting. It also features Roller Bearing Clutch technology that reduces bounce and chain slap.
