Comments about XLC Brake Cable and Housing:

I bought these because I was looking for both cheap and colored housing/cable combos for my road bike.

The good? Well, they're cheap. And the cable comes with both mountain and road style connectors at each end. Also you get A LOT of cable housing. I don't know why they included so much, but you'll definitely have leftover.

The bad? The cable housing is really poor quality. It has a really big I.D., which means the cable fits really sloppy inside of it. What's more is the lining inside the housing seems to either be really thin, or the housing is poorly made. There is a lot of resistance from the metal windings inside that makeup the housing. After cutting and routing my rear brake assembly, I noticed it had a fair bit of resistance which made the lever feel 'sloppy'.

I should also note the "red" color I bought is more like a dark blood-maroonish red. It doesn't match the red SIS gear cable I got from my LHS (which I assume is a generic QBP brand).

Overall, it's not a terrible purchase - considering the price. I am also 99% sure this is identical and made in the same factory that makes those Bell Bike Fix Brake Housing, that you can find online or even in box-box retailers. It's identical in almost every way.

        Yup. They're brake cables.

Comments about XLC Brake Cable and Housing:

Regular brake cables that I got with red housing for aesthetic reasons. No lube in the sleaves unless you diy. Not long enough to run as an uninterrupted housing to the rear caliper either.
