3G - the 3rd generation of Thudbuster seatposts from Cane Creek. A full 3 inches of travel with a preload adjustable, two-stage elastomer shock. Quality construction with an aluminum mast and links. The 3G features a forged linkage with wider-spaced bushings to increase lateral stiffness and a micro-adjust seat clamp. Split link arms enable ease of disassembly in the field, and simple bushing replacement. Lusting after a full-suspension ride, but just can’t afford it right now? The Thudbuster is a great stopgap solution, adding additional comfort and control to your hardtail.

Without a doubt the best hundred bucks I've spent in a while. After riding a heavy and cheap full suspension bike for years to tow my kids behind I treated myself to a lightweight mountain bike. Crowding 50 it made me feel 10 years younger (except for my seat bone). Most of my riding is a combination of pavement and hardpack (No X games here) and 10 to 30 miles. What's amazing is towards the end of my rides how much I was focusing on the cracks and washboards in the trail. After reading reviews on alot of different posts I chose the Thud Buster. I could not be more pleased with how this post smoothes out the bumps. I'm not big on standing up in my pedals to avoid pain and this was the ticket. One extra plus I noticed was that once you have your seat set up you don't seem to loose any peddling energy into your suspension ( I noticed this alot with my soft tail). This post looks unusual in the photo but looks cool on my bike. Happy trails :)

I think it was nice for purely off road use. I wanted it for commuting to smooth out the hard transitions but the elastomer selection left me wanting more. I would like it to be really firm for the road and simply smooth out some of the hard impacts. I tried the preload but just didn't seem to work for me and put the saddle further to the rear than I was comfortable. I can't recommend this because I'm not really a mountain biker so can't comment on race handling etc.

I put this product on my 20yr old Cross Bike to absorb the bumps along the way. I like that this product adds a shock-like feel to a rigid frame without the energy loss. This product is pretty expensive and depending on your weight you may need to purchase additional elastomers from the manufacturer. (I could not find them on JensonUSA site)

We bought one for my wife who has lower back issues. It rides very much like a plush full suspension frame, although it does little or nothing to aid in traction or tracking.
A simple, manual lockout would be nice for long smooth uphills.
It is very well built, and well designed, light for what it is, but a little bit ugly.

Installed on my favorite hard tail mtb, I ride 12 miles to the trails, approx 10 miles on trails and back to home again,,, I need to sit down some time ( over 50 you know :) the motion is very natural,, the suggested spring( rubber) rates are accurate for the riders weight.... If ya have the dough $$$ and have extended saddle time,,,,this is an upgrade.

Except for interfering with my current seat bag and not looking very attractive, the Thudbuster LT is a great remedy for an old back when riding my 2012 Specialized Rockhopper hardtail.

This is a really well made seatpost. I used one on a hardtail for about a year and a half and really liked it. IT won't turn your hardtail into a full suspension, but it does take some of the edge off. I ended up re-selling mine because I wanted to make my bike lighter, but for those more concerned with comfort than weight should definitely consider this seatpost.

I like the product but wish it came with 2 softer grey elastomers. I weigh 205 lbs and found that what they said I needed was hard as a rock. I went down to a single blue and grey and find the ride much nicer. Great product for those wanting a better ride out of thier hard tail bicycles.

I use this on my "off-road" bike. I ride C&O canal and mountain trails with easy now.
I love this thing- you can adjust when the "give" starts and how it responds.
I thought to back-n-forth motion would be a problem, but it is actually fun.
I adjusted the front fork to be in tune with it and the whole bike sort of bounces along- its plain fun to use.
I would never go back to total hardtail and it's cheaper than a FS bike.
To me it's the best option for a hardtail- I still have HT traction, but I don't pay in the end;-)Displaying reviews 1-10
