Prior to installing the K-Edge, I would probably drop my chain once or twice on my weekly MTB rides. Granted, I do like jumping gaps and riding down stairs everyone once in a while. After installing the K-Edge, I have not dropped a chain. Dropping a chain would be nearly impossible unless you lifted the bike upside down and pulled the chain over the K-Edge. Now I have no worries about shifting down and dropping my chain onto the BB. Trust me, you don't want to drop the chain and scratch up your frame. I paid the price and had to get my frame re-faced due to my chain marring the edges up. You need smooth edges for the external bearing BBs. The dropped chain would have been disastrous if I was riding a full carbon MTB. Highly recommend the product for anyone who is using an external bracket bottom bracket (i.e. Shimano XT Hollowtech II) with the 2.5mm spacers and would like to stop worrying about dropping the chain on the down shift.
