Designed to protect downtubes from rocks being kicked up from the front wheel, it can however be used as a chainstay protector. I ended up returning this stuff. It was way too thick, like 1/16". Sure that would be protective, but it would look weird.
I ended up getting some remnant 3M clear bra from a local installer for free. Pretty much invisible.
For the lower downtube I bought some of the textured, rubbery stuff that Santa Cruz offers.
