Continental Race King Protection 29 Tire
The Continental Race King is a proven champion time and time again, helping Irina Kalentieva to two World Championships. The low- profile pattern rolls faster than competing tires, and handles a wide range of conditions. When it's dry, the Race King is as fast and provides as much traction as can be asked, and rolling resistance rivals that of many road tires.
This version of the Race King features Continental's Black Chili Compound. In 2007, Black Chili compound hit the market. It has been a hit with cyclists ever since, as it has proven to improve tire performance in all areas. The BlackChili compound lasts longer, grips better, and rolls faster. It has 26% less rolling resistance, 30% higher grip, and even 5% longer mileage. The Black Chili Compound is only made in Korbach Germany, and the recipe is not shared with any other tire manufacturer.
The Revolution Tubeless Ready system provides the perfect combination of smooth running, grip, and puncture protection. ProTection RTR features 4 ply heavy duty nylon (4 under tread, 3 in the sidewall.) The Revolution Tubeless Ready (RTR) system offers a UST style bead, and mid-weight casing for full tubeless compatibility. For optimal results, Continental recommends using the Continental RevoSealant with these tires.
Note: If Stan's was previously used, both the tire and rim must be scrubbed using Simple Green or a similar cleaner, before Continental Revo Sealant can be used.

I would not use this tire on the front. I usaully run an X-King 2.2, but for really loose terrain I'll run an X-King 2.4. Lean into those turns and just let your rear wheel find it's path. You'll love it!
PROS: Lightweight, Durable, Fast
CONS: Cosmetic Wear
BEST USES: Racing, Mountain Biking
These tires are great on road when I have to ride it. Very durable, good sidewall. I rarely get punctures. If I do it was something very big.
I ride pretty narrow rims as I like a nice tall centre ridge. These tires have a nice round profile which works for me. I usually ride around 35 psi, with tubes. Great grip on loose Rocky gravel climbs, as much as I can ask on loose Rocky decents. Great volume (I run the 2.2 version) for sandy sections, and providing padding between my rim and road. Very good mixed surface tire. Never leaves we wanting.
I'm always disappointed when I wear one out, but that's just because they keep me rolling so long that I end up riding so much. I don't want to use anything else.

I also own a Specialized Epic with maxxis Icon on it and they are very similar in character, but the Conti's are faster IMHO.
Installed as tubeless without any issues ans immediately sealed perfect.
I took out a star for price, even tough it was on sale the MSRP price is too high.

My riding is a mix of year-round, on and off road, and I really haven't found anything yet that the tire doesn't do well or at least handle adequately. It hums a bit on the road, but not nearly as bad as other knobby tires.
I run them tubeless at around 28 PSI. Mounting the tire wasn't too difficult, especially when I finally decided to follow directions!
